this is what i'm talkin' about.
this is not mine.
and this is not good.
I dont have that front cross member on my Mazda, it got ripped off after driving over one of those 2 inch thick steel plates that the city of Phoenix likes to lay over open trenches while doing construction on the streets. I had chrome fender trim on my Mazda back in the day and they came with rubber seals that ran along the edge of the trim to protect your paint. When I hit that steel plate all four of the rubber seals came off the fender trim. You should have seen me looking all over the street trying to find them.
When you body drop the front of your Mazda there is nothing that needs to be done to the front cross member to get it to lay flat, that all has to do with the placement of your upper and lower bag mounts. Everything within the front suspension stays in the same factory location.
that truck has been drug to smitherines , the front xmember isnt much lower than the frame right?? never really measured....

I think you missed what Rudy was saying.
When you "lay frame" on a mazda, it doesnt't "lay frame", it "lays crossmember and leaf perches" The frame stays off the ground till you drag a bit. If you set your bodydrop up to be even with the bottom of the frame, you consequently wont "lay body" unless you have done something to those two areas.
Most commonly, people just drag for a little bit, files the crossmember down (nice rudy) and files the leaf perches down, body hits the ground and everyone is happy.
But others just body drop their trucks to have the body a little lower than the frame. Viola! Lays body, no filing. Hence the 2 1/2 spec for laying rocker that everyone throws around. When, if you just drag a bit, you can body drop it closer to 2 1/8- 2 1/4.
When I sfbd my frame, I, in effect, gave it a "z" because I made the framerails as low as the stock front crossmember. My body is only lowered 2 1/2", but I could really drag off the pinches and even some rocker because of this "z".
thanks russ...sniff ..sniff...i luv ya man..(said in a drunken type stuper).
exactly what i was trying to say.
by the way ,when i post something i am usually refering to MY experiance with MY truck i do realize that all mazdas are not created equal.
LIEF'S OR LEIFS (sorry bud i keep forgetting) crossmember and perches on his chassis was probably built higher than mine.
thats's probably why his lays "frame".
i am just refering to mine.
another question.. i have done my body drop and i am curious if i need to tub out the firewall for wheels and tires, i am going to run denali wheels w/ real low pro tires! just want to know if it needs to be tubbed on the corners?

bag your mazda properly and you WILL lay front to back i dont know what all this rambling is about "oooo my front crossmember makes me not lay...." bullshit! mine lays front to back however not b/ded yet and almost lay pinch in the rear, haha i drag, alot!
why do you have to ack like such a dick when were just trying to heop someone out here. okay ,since your not bodydropped yet, how about showing us a pic of your frame laying flat on the ground (which i'm sure it is because you say you drag alot) and a pic of your crossmember this will help prove many points here and also help this guy out on this subject. after all what the hell do i know about setting up bag mounts properly anyway...i'm only dragging with 20" training wheels bolted on.
^^^^ awe dude i'm sorry maybe i should take that back i just noticed you did'nt mention anything about FRAME in your post.
my bad...maybe i should learn how to read (and spell).
