i guess ill put one of the many stupidest
things ive done.

1. getting rid of my mazda!!!!!!! i miss that bitch!!!

2. one day comming home from work my truck started making a loud banging noise i though i had a flat, so i pull over check around and nothing, all the tires were fine so start driving back and it does it again!!! so i had to go like 10-15 mph for like 8 miles til i got to my sisters house. get there i look all around ask my cousin if he sees anything hitting underneith the truck, he says no. id start it roll around and clank bing bang, clank bing bang, i thought it was the drive shaft so it sat in front of my sisters house for like 6 mos til i moved back to houston, maztang and another friend of ours pulled the shaft off, 4 mos later come to find out all it was was that the lug nuts came loose causing the tire to bang against the truck, that was the bang sound, and i broke a lug nut, the bing, clank sound!!!! what a fuckin retard i am!!!!

I used to have my truck so low in the front that my upper control arm was sitting on the bumpstop bracket (with the bumpstops out)..

I started driving it and it make this really weird thumping and shaking.

I pulled over, looked under the truck, couldn't see anything broken or anything like that..

Noticed at that time that i only tightened the lug nuts hand tight, and they were all pretty much ready to come off lmao

pretty dumb.

Well a problem I am still dealing with, not sure who is to blame for this or who even did it for that matter but someone filled up the power steering with transmission fluid. Apparently the power steering system runs very hot and in fact above the boiling point of transmission fluid. It was quite an exciting mess... I just attempted to deal with it and now need to replace the lower rubber hose as it cracked right open when I tried to remove it to drain the system.

Great fun lmao.

This thread is awesome!!!!

Here is mine:

Before I bought my bagged yota, I drove a 1993 Mercury Capri XR2 Turbo Convertable... It was forth of july 2004 and my buddy and I just got back from a 30 trip to the reservation for illegal fireworks, when we got back my dad had me "jump" his car, well after that we took off for some food or something.. I turned a corner on the way back and stepped on it, at about 55 mph (top down, full acceleration) the hood flew up wrapped around the windshield and smacked me and my buddy on the head!!!!! The hood then ripped of the car, and I pull over... It turned out when I jumped my dad, I didnt put the hood pins back in (which held the hood on, due to a wreck it had been in...) Luckily nobody was behind me, or my hood would have been in their windshield... lol it was halarious, it hurt like hell, but when we finally had a minute to remember what happened, we were laughing our asses off... The damn thing was all bent up and dented, my windshield was was completely shaterred, and we had a headache.... ill never forget that...

Earlier this year torn down the top end on the mazda and put in all new gaskets and had the head redone, got it back together and it would just crank but wouldnt start. Maztang came up to help me out and spent a number of hours messing with it and couldnt get it to start for nothing.. My uncle came over a week or so later and come to find out two plug wires had been crossed.. unfortunetly its still not on the road

Mine is similar ot this. I stuck an MSD system in my truck, which had vague diagrams for V8s and V6s, but an incredibly detailed Chevy V8 diagram, and nothing for 4 bangers. So it was kind of a guessing game. This is after a full rebuild of the motor, and trying to start the truck for the first time. So after everything looks good, it won't fire. We start checking everything, go over the wiring for the ignition system, check for fuel, look for anything obvious. Everything looks perfect. This goes on for hours. I start a thread asking for help, and try everything suggested. Then a friend comes over and suggests swapping the wires going to the coil. So we go over the wiring again, and everything is correct, so we assume. So we swap them, and it fires right up. I was running an Accel coil, and when I later swapped to an MSD coil, it wouldn't fire. So on a hunch I swapped the wires, and it fired up. I am led to believe the Accel coil was wrong. Lol.

The other, when my truck wouldn't pass smog, I tried everything to reduce the fuel output with my carb. After about 2 months of trying everything, and getting screwed out of $300 on eBay for a new carb, I was ready to give up. And I did, for a few days. I was pissed and just wanted to set the truck on fire. I'd rebuilt the carb, twice, re adjusted the float a billion times, and called every place around to see if I could get smaller jets, only to find out you can't re-jet or tune a 20R carb, its just set. So I try to get another carb again, because someone brought to my attention that the housing could have a small crack, creating too high of a vacuum, and sucking in too much fuel. So I get another carb, off a 79, and rebuild it. So now I'm like $500 deep in a stock carb, that MIGHT work. So I start the truck, and it won't idle. So that gets dicked with for several days, another post is made, friends come help, no one can figure it out. Mind you I also had a deadline to get ti smogged or impounded because of a fix it ticket I got on the way back from the smog station the first time, and the DMV had taken all my plates when I tried to get custom ones, so I had to meet a deadline for them too. More stress. Finally I break down, and trailer the bitch to a shop. This is where I made the biggest mistake. I got the truck back with a fuxxored clutch, bent fenders (one beyond saving), and a truck that ran for $150. The problem, a faulty idle sensor that they switched from the old carb. But they said they can't smog test it because the clutch doesn't work now. When I get it the clutch works sporadically, so I trailered it to the smog shop, where it was ran 3 times. The last time, in 3rd gear with an open air filter and a bag of ice by the carb inlet, and it fawking passed! So in total, I'm about $1k deep in smog crap, plus a bunch of bullshit registration fees.

Now the cool thing, when I get it home, take it off the trailer, and the wiring under the dash catches on fire. Sweet, I fucked up some wiring right? Wrong. Upon pulling the dash out, I find that when they tried to fix the clutch master, they got brake fluid all over everything. It ate through a few wires, which grounded against the clutch pedal, and fried a good 1/4 of the cab harness. So I replace the stock clutch master with a new one (haven't had any issues since) and put in a new clutch slave, and rewire everything. Now when I'm putting the dash back in, I realize that there is also brake fluid all over the backside of my freshly painted dash, which peeled some paint away. On further inspection, it ran all the way down the dash, and peeled away a lot of paint on the bottom by the fuse panel. Its slowly spready, and once you get brake fluid on something, you won't paint it again. So my dash is fucked from that.

Also an interior shop, with a great reputation destroyed my dash pad.

Now I'm pissed.

Moral of the story, I don't outsource anything anymore.
