^^ wow

my story goes a little something like this -
the first time i 4linked my truck i used water pipe instead of DOM for the bars - wow.
i MIG welded big ol nuts to the bars and bolts to some small pieces of DOM for the bushings - ooh...
i used scrap metal and trailer parts for brackets for my 4link and bags )on bars i might add) no the bars didn't bend because i welded some 1x3/16 inch flatstock to the bottom to brace it.
after i was done with the 4link install (which included a relocated summitt fuel cell behind the axle) i was Huge Pimpin!
rolled to the mall with my girlfriend, watched a movie at the theater, went for a parking lot drag, and aired up and SNAP - the ass end of the truck went into the oncoming lane.
scary moment to say the least. i had people in the back and everything. at least we were in the nearly empty mall parking lot going like 15-20 mph.
stopped and looked at my axle, which was now about a foot closer to the cab on the passenger side.... my lower 4link tabs broke off the axle. turns out a couple tack welds doesn't hold her tight.
after pondering for nearly an hour on what to do... it was near midnight... had to call my dad to have him bring some ratcheting tie down straps from his shop so i could center my axle to drive it to his shop to finish welding my tabs.

in my old toyota i managed to section my oil pan in half by way of the front cross member while dragging down the street. my friends were all impressed by how much brighter than usual the sparks were, arrived at our location somehow, came back out to a truck that was screaming to have its motor rebuilt. i still have the cross member laying around somewhere, good times.

Don't you be dissing Hondas. I own a '90 Civic wagon with almost 400K (about 250K miles!!!) on an engine that has never been touched and is still running strong.

The body is 99% rust free and the interior looks like it came out of the factory yesterday... and this in a daily driver, not a show car.

BTW, I think all Japanese makes are far superior to anything Detroit has EVER produced. I have owned Fords, Dodges and Chevies, along with a couple Toyotas and a Lada, and I will never buy Detroit again. It was all junk, except maybe that early eighties Suburban my Dad used to own (I learned to drive in that truck, as well as make out... that was a hell of a good truck).

Oops, forgot to add stupidest thing I've ever done...

I once spent 10 frustrating minutes trying to start my old moped (1974 Solo 2-stroke). Finally got down on my hands and knees to check out the carb... only to notice it wasn't connected to the piston body anymore. A screw had gotten loose during my ride about 30 minutes before and the carb had wiggled loose.

I pushed it back on, tightened the screw and, presto, ignition !!!
