Ok I want in on this discussion. I have heard that the government subsidizes the oil industry via tax breaks and grants etc. Is this true? Conisdering how much of our economy depends on oil, if the oil companies went out of business it would cause a serious economic problem. I can see doing this when the oil industry was hurting but now that they are having record profit quarters I really don't see why we should if this is true. Anyone have any info on this?

a local gas station drop their price 50 cents a litre, to 75 cents a litre last week... just to get news and tv/media all over them... it was insane.....

well now they dont want to fill that reserve they got down south. its at 97% capacity (can't remember how many billions it holds) but our genius prez sed it needs to be full. if its full and we hit some sort of 'oil crisis' bullshit, the reserve will last a whopping 2 MONTHS! wow! while congress is passing a law that somethin like the 70 mil barrels goin into the reserve will be put into circulation. they think it wont help because we import 20.2 bil barrels aday but if they really would think about it, the 70 they aren't puttin into the reserve would be 70 less to import. they dont think it'll drop the prices which wouldn't suprise me. the country is run on greed...
