speaking of headers i was wondering if anyone had a pace setter for sale? i found em for 130 but im a cheapo and poor so id love to save a buck!
Are you talking about getting it ceramic coated after I strip it?
I do not remember how the the steel tubing was, but it has to be pretty thick if its a header! It might pit, but I doubt it. It should'nt since there is no rust in the first place... I could do aircraft stripper, but it is messier, IMO!
So, kaoss, why could'nt you tell me earlier! I really wish I would have known! I wanna cry now... I think I'll have to try and send these suckers back to summit! For $200 for ceramic headers, thats a STEAL, IMO!
$130 for regular pacesetter headers is pretty good! $200 for ceramic, is a steal! Lol, I would try e-bay, but if you want, I'll sell you mine when they get in!
if your gonna strip them walnut shell them..
I don't remember, can you use walnut shell through a sand blaster?
Oh, wow! This is pretty rediculous! Okay.. So I got the headers today. I look on this sheet, and it says its for a B2000 85-86! WTF! It said B2200 on the site! Why can't people get things right? Sigh...
But anyways, it looks like it would fit on my engine? I mean the bolt locations and all look about the same to the stock header. Will this fit? Did your guys' headers come in as a b2000 85-86?
This feels as if all the better to send it back and pay $50 more for those ceramic ones!
Heres another I found, it looks like it should fit both b2000 and b2200

70-1140 Is the painted header, this is the same SKU number for mine. What a bunch of retards! This is the only header they make for the 2.0 and 2.2! I looked in the catalog the header came with and it said the same. So, apparently, people do not know how to advertise right!
Anyways, it means it will fit and I'm good! I would have rather got my hands on an armor coat, but 3 weeks backorder is outrageous for me! I'd rather high temp. paint it!
will a chemical stripper work on a header that's got surface rust?
As far as I can remember, it will not work on rust.. Just paint, etc..
Strip the headers of the paint, and get rid of as much as rust as you can. then, rust treat it and high temp. paint it.
it's not really like rust... its never been in the elements... other than under my hood. i put it on with the coating on and it burned off and has been bare since... about 2-3 years.... it just looks like old metal now. i'll try some things and let ya know what happens this week sometime.
