Does it sound close to the sound clip on flowmaster? Sucks about the header....
what the hell happened to the header....damn that sucks.
prolly says on the can of paint you need to bake the header to cure it. i thought all you had to do was spray on high temp paint, until i read a little further down the instructions.
Wait, did I have to wait for it to cure? I thought I only had to wait for it to dry! I waited like 3-4 days before it got put on today...
On the can it says wait 7 days for it to cure. Then it says for maximum heat resistance, bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours or 400 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
Where in the world 'am I going to find a place that can bake something that hot?
Wait, also, now that I think of it, on flowmasters site, it seems like the guy only revved it to no more than 2k. With mine, you hit 3-3.5k and you almost sound like a tuner! lol! If you really like the sound of exhaust, the 40 series is for you! If not, get the 60...
LOL! Funny thing... I started the truck up after I got the exhaust on, and I go to look under my hood. Revved it up, waited a couple minutes, and then my headers were smoking! I could'nt believe it! Then it bubbled and flaked off...sigh...
See, my only problem is, I need to find a place now that can bake it for 1 1/2 hours at 400. So I can actually drive my truck the next day! If not, I'm thinking about buying the ceramic, replacing it, then dipping this in ceramic and sell it for cheap!
a powdercoat shop oven should be that hot, maybe a kilne at a pottery place?
your not supposed to but you can powdercoat at home and bake it in your kitchen oven. it gets that hot, but it'll poison your food. so if you don't want to kill your family buy another oven from a junkyard/dump/used appliance place and throw it in the backyard and bake in that.
I have an eastwood powder setup and a spare oven under my deck to bake things....but you wont fit a header in it.....
Just pull it, and get it ceramic coated
I never tried it but i read somewhere tht someone who painted their with the high temp spray paint nd then let it dry and to cure it he turned on the vechile let it warm up for like 2 minutes then let its cool off and did tht like 3 times and it cured....I have no clue if it works but you could try i guess
summit racing has the ceramic coated header for around that price.
I dunno if there is any powdercoating shops here in my city. I bet there is though... I definitely was thinking about a pottery shop though... The kilnes can get over 1000 degrees.
LOL, I'll pass on that speedster!
See, if I pull it and get it ceramic coated, I would probably have to wait more than a day! Its the only header I got, and I dunno if there is anyone who does ceramic coats in my city.
2 minutes when I turned on my truck, ended up making the paint on the header smoke!
What do you mean summit has a header for that price? What price? $150? I don't believe so! Theres a site that sells it for $200, and thats the cheapest I've seen! If worse comes to worst, I'll get another header in ceramic, and then ceramic coat this one and put it up on e-bay!
