header wrap is designed to keep the heat within the tubes and to increase exhaust gas velocity. It is designed for racecars, and the heat will not deteriorate the header as much as the salt, water and debris the wrap keeps in.

my header hasn't been put on yet, but baking it at 180 won't be enough, it is supposed to be baked at 600, but trying to find an oven that hottt was not working out.

the paint is supposed to be good up to 1500 degrees.

Lol! Well, I wonder if there is anyways to seal the wraps so it can't be leeched?

Hmm, lol! Yea, I was wondering if maybe doing a bake in the paint booth would work, but I guess not. Dealing with a diff. type of paint I suppose... Why could'nt you "bake" it when you run it on the engine? Lol...

See, I had no intention spending $400 for a header! Although, what the purpose of a $400 carb? Lol...

I'm just going to sand blast the headers at school and paint them with the best high temp. spray I can find.

I 'd be hesitant to try sandblasting, Had ya considered chemical stripper or bead blasting?

Get a pacestter header strip it and have it coated. It would be about the same price as buying one coated.

possible warping, and pitting, its a method preffered for use on thick old rusty parts cuz o that. Get some more opinions on it though, i personally have never done it and I would use a chemical stripper, its actually less messy sometimes too.
