i tried askin a question on a website about a motor swap heres the response i got---

You can't be serious? Really a Mazda, I don't think you'll get much
support here, or at car shows, you will only get us mad. That idea is
kind of insulting to me. Kind of like the picture I saw of a Porsche
911 with a Geo Metro engine in it. Flatheads can get very pricey and
still wont put out much power. I'll have more than $4,000 into my
engine and it still doesn't run and when it does I'll only expect
maybe 140hp if I'm lucky. Find yourself another hobby, seriously

like how hard would it be to just give a proper answer... some people are narrow minded dicks.

This is probably where you went wrong:

"no real reason to do it except to see the look on the hot roddrs facesat local shows"

Hot rodders are just the same as us, as we all fit into the same scene of custom automotive entushiasts. Flatheads are cool in anything because of their uniqueness, and IMO should never be used to make people mad, kinda a lame reason to do such a thing.

if someone came on here and said they didnt really like minitrucks but wanted to do something we did just to see our looks...they would get the same response you got..i think you went about asking it the wrong way...

my response ....that was pretty much the narrow minded response i was expecting. seems that most guys that are into older cars/trucks cant fathom something new trying to to bring back some old school flair. guess thats why traditional hot rodding is a dying hobby
i hope the pictures i've tried to link work so that you can see that i'm not some punk ass kid. and i'll be sure to post some pics once its done just to " insult" you. thanks for no help. sorry i even bother to think that I could ask a question and get a civil answer. you reaffirmed my belief that the old will never except the new

Yeah, even if you didn't mean to, they probably thought you were being a dick.

It isn't always easy to guage someones intent on a forum, you know, not like a conversation where there is a tone of voice and all. Sarcasm, and simple statements can often be misinterpreted.

You seem like a cool guy on here, and seem to help with info when possible, so the old people probably misinterpreted you.

Good luck with the flat head, one more idea I had considered. I guess I can mark that one off of my list of original ideas now....lol
