the balls are just mounted upside down, most people take a peice of 2x2 square tubing with holes drilled in it, weld it to the frame like a crossmember, and put the nuts in there and use a pipe wrench to tighten down the trailer balls.

what the hell does an anchor have to do with anything? lol

if you have a drag bar and its properly gusseted to your frame if it catches couldnt it bend your frame?

draggings not for me, i dont see the point in throwing sparks and intentionaly destroying hours of my own work..but thats just me

yes, it could, and probably will.

I wasn't talking about in a case where something catches though, im just speaking in general wear and tear terms. Someone who can't weld, and drags frame, is just asking for his/her truck to break in half. at least with trailer balls they can swap them out with a pipe wrench, which is alot cheaper than a welder.

thats why dragging is illegal and risky, there are no ways to control all the factors. you could hook a pothole and tear your truck apart, you could drag thru vital components to your vehicle, and peices can fly off your truck and hit other vehicles. not to mention it does tear up the roads.

i guess i said i don't think you can do any of the other things too? didn't realize it. all i'm saying.. and that vdeo helps prove my point.. is that i would rather tear up my frame and rebuild it than fuck someone else's vehicle up. i think it's very irresponsible to drag a hitch ball.. try angle blocks.. i have a set you can have! and i don't drag often enough to tear my frame in half.. when i do drag, it's for 10 seconds or so.

theres always somebody who knows somebody who that got a trailer ball through the windshield. theres always a video of a trailer ball mishap. who cares. crazy sh$t happens all the time. i've seen videos of people gettin hit in the nuts with golf clubs accidentally...guess golf should be outlawed. people get hit by cars crossing the street everyday...guess we shouldn't cross the street. the bottom line is trailer balls will always be firing off of someones truck regardless of how well it was mounted. next time your driving along with another guy whos draggin trailer balls, get to the side or front of him.if your behind him slow down and let him get ahead of you.i drag reinforced pinch welds on my toyota but i fully understand that its a bad idea and im always prepared for the worst.

I think trailer balls look like ass, and I personally like the under frame drag blocks a little better.

am i the only person who plates the bottom of the frame so that no damage is done and nothing can fly off? it takes 5 minutes to weld some 1/4" plate to the bottom of your frame. why is this method never mentioned in these trailor ball posts?
