Good thread...lol...I regret not buying quality tools. Once while replacing a blown head gasket on my Nissan 720, the cheap import ratchet sheared off and I punched the firewall pinch weld full force. My hand did the "explode" blood all over the place. This wasn't the worst part tho'. bloody knuckles are a badge of honor. The bad part was that I grabbed the closest thing (a sharpend screwdriver I was using for a scraper) and threw it. It hit a tire on my truck and lodged its self in the plastic gas tank on my father's new truck....the lessons learned 1) always buy quality tools 2)don't throw stuff in anger!

Ok fair with me ill start out slow.

v8 chevy monza with a trunk not hatchback super clean car. Jacked it up to change starter had jack stand under one side....then opened the door heard the car twist...it was a unibody..the door never closed right again.

Another lug nut took the billet wheels of my camaro and put them on my regal lug nuts and all. Well camaro was metric and the regal wasnt but i put them on with air gun so didnt really tell....well after a month i relize what the noise is the lugs were coming off well i waited to long and the front came off and shot in front of me..bad thing was it went down a 200' hill in the sticker bushes.... i would have left it but they were nice ass wheels.

I use to race a 69 mustang stock car. Getting ready for the races sat morn pit guy comes over and asked what needed to be done i said still need to change oil. He sees a oil pan with oil in it and thinks i drained it allready (i didnt) I thought the car was a bit sluggish but oh well off to the track we go. I go out for the heat and drive the shit out of it when i see the yellow flag come out and lots of smoke... wow i think someone blew a motor till i see they are giving me the black flag??? Come to find out i had 20 quarts of oil in a 10 quart system and it pumped it out the valve covers.

I have a really big one that has to do with fire.....pretty scary but stupid as hell!!!

Oh yeah fire! Before I saw the light and started this mini truckin' thing, I was a hard core VW guy. I had a Baja Bug with a Built 1835, dual webber carbs etc. One day whlie driving, one of my braided fuel lines started leaking on the exaust. Needless to say FIRE!. I saw the smoke/flames in my rear view mirror. I pulled over and in desperation poured a 44ounce Coke on my fairly new motor. This almost worked and I put out the rest of the fire with my shirt. Lets just say 3rd degree burns are no fun, but I did save my bug!

well not me but a stupid friend welded a bag bracket to a gas tank. And he owned the shop it was done at. now that should explain the (friends dont let friends bag there trucks) thing.

welding bag brakets on the rear of a 65 T-bird trying to burn through all the undercoat and galvinize. I noticed smoke and a strange light from below my welding helmet. I looked down and found my shirt was on fire. All the sparks and hot undercoat landed in my pocket. It singed a nice patch of chest hair off on the process

seeing a thread about axle wrap reminded me of my old ranger when i was 16. i had monoleafed it and had a little c-notch in the rear. the bed floor was cut out(from the BD) but not sheetmetaled in yet. then i built up a 2.3 for it with a Garret T3 turbo, low compression forged pistons, port and polish runnin 18psi of boost. under decent acceleration i would get a pretty bad u-joint chatter right when the turbo spooled. for a while i was just drivin it around takin it easy saving up money for bags and a 4-link.

one day a totaly riced out honda pulled up next to me and started revin up to race. i had never raced anyone it that because i was always takin it easy on it. but that car made me laugh it was so gay so i soo just wanted to clown on that thing and show what a truck will do. i thought that if i took it easy in the first couple gears and then went for it after that i would be fine because of the loss of torque when i hit a higher gear. i was wrong. a was pullin him hard at about 3/4 throttle in 2nd and just punched it when i hit 3rd. Boom. the yoke and u-joint shattered sending pieces everywhere. including one whizzing right by my head through the back window. it hit my roof so hard above the windshield that it left a dent visible from the outside of the truck. i was so lucky it didnt get lodged in the back of my head. lets just say that was the first and only time i raced someone in a mini.

I am sure not the stupidest thing I have ever done...but I decided to redo all the plumbing and wiring on my first bagged truck...I had not built it and they did some weird things...everything was ½ parts but they used 3/8 inch air lines...and this on a 98 F150....where you WANT the faster ½ .... anyway..... My first experience with air ride....I got wise when buying parts and got one of those $24 Parker brand check valves...my idea was to block the front from the back as when I lifted the rear....it dropped the front a bit and that was always aggravating. So I spent 2 days, relocating everything, valves, new tank, air line, wiring, switches...EVERYTHING....got done late on a Sunday evening and tested it out...everything worked great 1st time! Happy and ready to go to work the next day, I aired it out.....but the front wouldn't drop.....yes...I put the check valve in the line from the tank to the front bags...BEFORE the dump valve which was conveniently located back by the air tank...DUHHHHH...I had to ride around for 2 days with my front fully lifted as I didn't have time to fix it till Tuesday evening....its one of those times I WISHED I had a leak in my air ride, lol
