I just remembered that a few yrs back this guy was on the news after his trailer home was destroyed after a tornado hit and while he was being interviewed he said something like it was the 4th or 5th time this happened and the reporter asked what he was gonna do, this MF said he was gonna rebuild again! in the same place! what would you do in this case?
and with hurricane what I dont understand is why it took so long to get aid to the victims. simple things like food, water, and meds.

yes it was founde din 1718, the levee system waqs started in the early 1800's the reasons for flooding is due to the soil content and sediments deposited by the mississppi, and when new orleans was being built and they were removing water to create farm land, that was the start of the problem , the levee that were built were in adequate and will never be adequate due to the soil content,if it doesntbreak the levee walls it will move thru the ground reason 2 of the levees failed in katina, the 2nd reason the city flooded is due to the screw pumps built by city in 1912, they are old VERY OLD, and also they are below sea level also and can only handle so much water in a given flow per hour, granted the hurricane provided more water than it could handle, the fact that they are also almost 100 yrs old and they only turn at 83 rpm's and can only displace 7500 gallons of water a sec , so if the pumps would have been more updated and highr level they would have not had quite the flooding issue, also the levees not being properly constructed would have also helped, and new orleans has flooded from 3 hurricances BETSY, CAMILLE,and Katrina, buthas also flooded from several other storms non hurricane related,,, also once the water reached the pumps they had to be shut off cause their motors are not encased and were exposed to the water had they been mounted differently we would be talking bought other things, the fact that the people ignored the warnings is a tradgey, but for the ones that stayed just to stay and then wanna cry should have no reason to whine caus ethey made the choice, i was involed in hurricane ivan and lost my truck and i shouldnt have been where i was but hey that was my chocie and i have tolive with that..so the fact is the city will always be subject to this devastation due to being 10 feet below sea level and steadily loosing ground atthe rate of 1/2 to a inch a yr...

I completely agree. I don't understand what happened, but one thing the American people came together and helped out. Maybe the government didn't get it right but people showed up afterwards and lent a hand. At least from what I seen.

And like I say I'm not trying to be argumentative or anything, just trying to have a civil discussion.

sorry to be so combative husk, and everyone else. i am just tired of all the bullshit we have to go through. every year we spend thousands of dollars running from mother nature. as far as the below sea level thing, and when new orleans was founded stuff, i was born in 1974, it was below sea level then, and it still is, and will always be. but reguardless, it is home. i tried to move away, last year we moved to texas. but all of my and my wife's family are here. we try to deal with the hurricane crap, but it is a very touchy subject to hear people talk about new orleans people as a whole, when we are not. its just like the racism thing, there is trashy people in all races, and everywhere you go people are different, with different opinions on things. i can't do anything about the sea level or the levees, but i dont complain about it either. i just deal with it. everyone is entitled to their opinion, and like i said, sorry i am so combative, but ANYONE who lived through katrina would have the same feeling about this fish bowl we call home.... well, time to evacuate again. hopfully we be spared yet again, if not, i will be back on here very combative again when we get wherever we end up. peace fellow dually friends, and you too husk...

Good luck man. Like I said, I know what I hear on the news. And we now how reliable and biased it can be. I can imagine it is a pain in the arse, and I love where I live.

But I think there has to be a limit to some of this stuff.

I've been doing some thinking and I have something I'd like to say:

You guys all know what they say about opinions. That's what all this is. Just words. Despite where we stand physically, politically, racially, whatever...at the end of the day, they're just thoughts and opinions. Some right, some wrong. Some justified, some not.

Point is, when the shit hits the fan, every one of you guys could count on me to back you up. I'm serious. Even Brian and Souf. We've had our disagreements, but when it all comes down to it, I'm not going to stand by and watch one of you get thrown under the bus. Every one of you guys has an ally in me. Black, white, brown, purple...it doesn't matter.

We may be separated by 100's or 1000's of miles, but I truly and seriously care about you guys. That's what I find great about forums. We get to know each other through our words and what's in our hearts...not necessarily by what skin color we may possess.

When I have a conflict with somebody on here, I actually admire them for speaking up. It shows you have a backbone and you believe passionately in something. That's admirable. So, while I may not agree with you, I definitely respect you.

Something you guys all know about me is I'm highly opinionated. (Yeah...I know I do a pretty good job of keeping it to myself, but it's true. ) One of the drawbacks to the interwebz, is that it gives you the benefit of relative anonymity. While I won't deny the way I feel about things, there are some things I would not say in person to certain people like I have done here. I think it's just the nature of things.

Seems like every once in a while, I return to center and realize that I'm acting like a douche. 90% of the time, it's all in fun. But I know there are things I have said that have hurt and offended people. I'm really sorry for that. I really do care about you guys and I wish absolutely no ill will to anyone here. Even guys I've got into it with before. I don't harbor hard feelings for very long.

I just ask that if anyone has any hard feeling towards me for something I may have said, please accept my apology and please realize that I truly never mean to hurt anyone. Talk to me. You don't need to make it a public spectable...send me a PM. I'll make it right.

That being said, I hope all you sensitive bastards have a great holiday weekend, and hook up with as many ghey menz as y'all can handle.

Keep it safe, guys.

Remember this is a joke made from a quote from a black lady. Never meant to hurt anyone, there are just as many white kids that talk like that too so it isn't a race thing, but if you are going to defend it like that then so be it, as said before the racism door swings both ways. Don't talk back at me for posting something like that then and say it is wrong when you use the same language! I never get all upset when others make fun of white people or polish people, which I am and proud of it. Polish are the brunt of probably 50% or more jokes that have something to do with color or nationality. I don't have the hate that you seem to have against people that joke about your color or nationality. Lighten up a little, with so much hate in this country no wonder why people are shooting each other all the time. I will laugh a polish joke with the best of them.

brianbgboy, I understand where you are coming from, I would have a hard time moving from where my family is too, and I appreciate you being a stand up guy that doesn't ask for a handout because you live in a hurricane zone. Where I have a problem the people who live off from handouts then bitch when they don't get one. Doesn't matter if it is down there or up here. Just different scenarios, he it is the lazy bastards that collect welfare just because it is easier than working, and our state actually tells people to quit their part time jobs because they won't get benefits if they continue to work, instead of helping out a struggling hard working family, they will give the money to someone who doesn't even try. But enough on that issue.
I never hope than anyone in our country, no matter color or race have to live through what you southerners do every hurricane season. I guess I am just lucky as hell to live in a beautiful area that doesn't really get severe weather, no quakes, no hurricanes, no poisonous snakes or reptiles, gators, bears, no real floods, a tornado once every ten years or so, but we do get snow, not like we used to but we still get a lot. but I don't complain about it either, just prepare for it. But a huge snowstorm can come up quicker than any hurricane will but also not so deadly either.

REMEMBER IT WAS A JOKE NEVER TO OFFEND ANYONE. CHILL OUT IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE STEREOTYPE, REMEMBER I'M NOT THE ONE WHO IS TALKING LIKE THAT, NOR AM I THE FIRST ONE TO MAKE FUN OF IT. GO AHEAD MAKE FUN OF HONKEYS or NORTHERNERS FOR THE WAY WE TALK OR EAST COASTERS OR HILLBILLYS I CAN TAKE A JOKE CAN YOU?????? I GUARANTEE YOU I WON'T PULL OUT THE RACE CARD LIKE YOU DID!
