Well...both. I think the problem is your reading them out of context. They're two different issues.
If I get a chance (and this thread isn't closed by then) I'll explain in the morning.
I really just want to go home.
I was just curious as to where you got your info on the fact the we were told for days to get out before katrina. the crappy officials here did not make evacuation mandatory until the storm was right on us. by the time the contraflow opened,(where all the interstates are open for leaving the state in both directions only) we sat in traffic for 14 hours. we were lucky to get out and we tried. some people rode it out in their cars, others just simply went back to there homes due to the inability to get out. a vast majority of the people in the city do not have personal transportation, and could not get out if they wanted to. again, our officials was supposed to bus the unfortunate people out, and neglected to get it done. i lived through katrina, and personally we did fine with no flooding ar all. all i lost was a few shingles on my roof. but a lot of people here lost all of everything they owned. as far as the handouts, i agree some people fraudulently took adavantage of the situation, and unfortunatly, that makes all of us here look like a bunch of idiots. i did not recieve any handouts, nor unemployment (even though we were out of work for 3 months) and didnt even filed an insurance claim for my roof. i felt fortunate to have a place to live, and a lot of folks lost it all. therefore, i DO feel sorry for SOME of the people. please keep in mind even if they had left, they would still have lost everything anyway. sorry for the novel, and whoring the thread, but living through these storms is a bit** and low and behold, they are preparing us for gustav in the gulf by this weekend!!!! dammit, here we go again....
sorry to have offended your far superior intellect, I only wish to reduce the amount of small minded individuals that inhabit this earth. Surely you can see some truth in my words if not to each his own.
in short YOU CAN EAT A DICK UP TO YA HICKUP!
Dick up to my hickup...wha...??? I don't even know what that means.
...but yes, I do see where you are coming from, and yes, there is some truth to what you're saying.
Do I think racism is a good thing? No.
Is it a reality of this society. Yes.
Are whites the only ones who can be racists? No.
I was wrong to make a blanket statement and say 'everyone' struggles with it. If I've offended you, or anyone else for that matter, I apologize.
Wow Brian. That's pretty powerful. Personally, I had no idea it went down like that. I always thought that the majority of the people who stayed behind, did so out of pride or stubbornness. Thanks for clearing that up, Man. Just goes to show you, when the shit hits the fan, you CANNOT count on the Government to take care of you.
Good luck with Gustov. If you need anything, let us know. At the end of the day, we're still all Bro's. I'll help out any way I can.
For days they were telling people to get out of there all over the news. I know not everyone could but if alot of them would of got the hell out when they first started to tell them to on the news it would of been easier but I can imagine all those people trying to leave at once all it would do is make it worse.
And by the way for the few that got their panties in a bunch, it is a fricken joke. If it offends you then obviously you speak like that. From my point of view it is hilarious. Its too bad there are stupid people in this world that think they are cool or whatever for talking like that. People will always make fun of you for doing it so either speak proper english or quit your bitchin.
Oh yeah by the way souf is spelled south. Just in case you didn't know.
trust me, i live 5 minutes from the city of new orleans, and they continually told us here that we were not in the bullseye of the storm until 24 hours out. my family left saturday 3 days before everyone was told to due to the fact that i have a wife and 9 year old son. living here all my life on lake salvador, i get the hell out early. no need to wait for disaster. but so do wait until the absolute minute. do not believe all you hear on the news. according to most news casts, we are perfectly back to normal here. well let me tell you first hand, that is complete bullshit for sure. it is not even close my friends. no big deal, as i am concerned with my familys well being first, so i hit the highway early. maybe others, if they had the ability, should do the same. who knows what the outcome would be then. all we can do is prey, and all else will be what it will be. later, brian
thanks campy, i appreciate that. the whole hurricane thing is a bit touchy here for us in the dirty south. people say things like "i dont feel sorry for any of them" like they have a clue how much of a pain in the ass it is to deal with evacuating several times a year for this crap. and lets not talk about how expensive it is to have to do it. the next statment then is" why deal with it, just move" remember, last year we were in texas. i liked it there a lot, but it was not "HOME". my family can afford to deal with it thank god, but what about the many who cant? no matter what you think, or how you feel, those unfortunate people, we should indeed feel sorry for, reguardless of race, or all that bullshit. sorry again for the rant!! all i am asking is please have a heart. just like all the bad weather all over the world, we get it too, and no one asks for it!!! later, brian
come on....really! I guess there is no real need to point out yours. did you make a funny little guy?
