I got a quote on geting my tahoe repainted the stock white color form a bodyshop that I know people at was told 1500 and they said fix all the minior dings that it has. I thought it was a hell of a deal and it sure is if people are paying more than 5k for paint depending on style and shit.

when i had my mitsu painted back in 2002 i paid $6,000.00 for a single color paint job. if you ever saw my truck in person then you know it was worth it. The same guy today would probably charge 10 grand easy. and thats one color.
I just had a buddy "HOOK" me up on a paint job for a cad, i bought the cheapest stuff i could buy and it set me back about 1000.00 in material. and that didnt include sanding paper and masking tape and all that other shit.
My buddy josh runs a custom paint and body shop where bio kustumz is located and he starts his paint jobs at about $6,000. My other buddy who also owns a body shop paints stuff all day along for about $15,000 grand all day. His paint jobs range from $8,000.00 to $35,000.00.
I'm a big beleiver in you get what you pay for.

"Chain" type paint shops (Maaco, One Day, etc.) are usually owned by an individual- they just pay to franchise the name. This means that the Maaco down the street from me might offer PPG or even HOK, and will do high-end work if the owner is into hot rods, while the Maaco near you may just be an insurance job shop that doesn't want to bother with custom paint and bodywork. I think it's possible to get a really good paint job with bodywork for under $5k, but of course it's all about what you're willing to sacrifice. The paint you see on Ridler-winning hot rods probably cost $10K in materials alone- top dollar candy colors and tons of clear, lead filling instead of plastic fillers- this isn't even factoring in hundreds of hours of labor.
However, for a street/ show vehicle with a simple 2 tone, with basic colors, I think 5g's is a reasonable figure for decent work (fully jambed, under hood, minimal flaws).
Good luck, and keep us posted with what you find!
