is it losing popularity
When I first got into minitrucking, the scene was full of people that were fabricating parts for their air suspensions, bumper conversions, etc. from scratch.
Now, kids can go and get just about anything they want right off the shelf...
I think that takes some of the exclusivity out of the game in my eyes, even though I work at one of the places that facilitates that mainstream crowd's need for parts!
I just think it was cooler back in the day, when cats were making air shocks and ball valves work for their air ride, and bodydropping their rides without the help of forums and photos to see how it's done. Now, I get people calling asking for BODYDROP KITS!!!
I think that the sacrifices to daily driveability will keep minis from ever being TOO popular or becoming played out, but it'll sure be nice when the people that don't understand the lifestyle move on to the next fad...

^Agreed some of the younger kids that dare to push the limits, and not listen to the people who tell them "that cant be done!" are actually making the scene. Seth you do have a good head on your shoulders your a prime example of what Im talking about!
~For example putting 24's on a mini truck was thought to be crazy and impossible. But what the hell do you know the "younger" guys are starting to do it! And I for one think it does look good, and it does push the boundries of whats possible! Peace

Actually, we've always joked about that- offer 2, 3, and 4" body drop kits that consist of strips of steel, sawzall blades, and instructions:
1: cut out floor2: raise floor desired amount3: weld floor back in4: make everything else fit/ clear raised floor
Bam! You're done, and it's just that easy!
Seriously, though, I don't want that last post to sound grumpy and/or cynical. The scene as a whole is still AWESOME to be a part of, thanks in part to Mike and the gang at Minitruckin' magazine, and also in part to kids like Seth (and dozens of others I know doin' it real and raw in their garages!) that keep bringing new ideas and clean work to the table. This hobby/sport/addiction ain't going anywhere!

There has always been the dickheads in the scene, but they have always been outnumbered by the true, hardcore Minitruckers that love the "sport" because of the friends, and fun. There is always gonna be the asshole that does a burnout or starts shit at a show. We have to deal with it. As always, I agree with Phil. Who sells body drop kits anyways!?!? Now you know how your granddaddy feels when you come home with a new set of wheels and he smirks at you! We are OG and we have to pass the torch. If you can't deal with it, it's time to get into the DONK scene! It's soooo cool and new, too!
hey phil sell them on ebay there are enough crooks on there selling info on how to get something my son fell for that one lost sum $$$ .. lol... .. im also not bashing anyone that has the mags and stuff or the vid people but>> i bet there are sum that really dont care about nuthin but the $$$$
Stop sucking Seth off, guys! He's not really that cool! LOL
ya bolt on donk kits... with free lambos..wait they are allready here...lol.. can you say swerve..lol
The majority of the newer people are only doing it because it is cool to them. As soon as it looses the cool factor it will loose alot of the idiots. They come and go with anything.
