Lol. I don't even know what to say to that Dan.
at my highschool i see posers entering or world a couple times a year, for instance a kid at my school had a cavi on 18s the next day he has a toyota taco on bags... but i had to tell him wat type of link set up he had on it... and had to explain to him how the shaved door handles on it worked...
and another kid showed up with a bagged s10 "because he liked mine" and thought his "F.B.S.S." air bag kit was a brand name haha.... pretty sad...
i wanted to respond to scott (first page and saying its not popular in ohio.) i dunno how other states/communities are but it sucks because its like the cops have totally killed some cruising areas around here. sure you'll have idiot drivers running around in some minis or those young punks, but you have that in any uncustom car/truck/van/ or whatever make. if i drive responsible with my mini on the street next to a woman putting on her make-up, talking on her cell phone swerving all over the place, 9.9 times out of 10 ill be the one getting pulled over. grrrrrrrr. had to vent my frustrations!
age has nothing to do with it.. all i hear is people blaiming the young kids.. im pretty damn sure two years ago at Reso it wasnt "some kid" that sucker punched and damn near did some serious damnage to someone in Twisted.
... most of the "kids" i see are too intimidated to talk to the older kats cus they think they are so fucking cool and know everthing about trucks....
...we cant keep kids around in vegas cus all they do is get talked shit to, talked down to, and its usally by some people in the scene that dont even had rides anymore...
I think it's cool, too. That's why I started getting into the scene back in the ealry 90's. But it's not a fad to me, it's life. The thing that bums me out the most is the repetition and seeing the same s-10 and 88-98 C/K over and over and over and over again! The whole point is to build something different. You can buy a Silverado at any dealership dropped on 22's or 24's now. That is not customized, it's accessorized.
why is it that the 2 FBI guys are bitching about being able to buy "bolt on or off the shelf " products.. kinda seems like you are shooting yourself in the foot. lol
john you got a good point, but when i said "sure you'll have idiot drivers running around in some minis or those young punks" i was bringing up the stereotype that a cop sees. theyll quickly judge someone driving a mini assuming those sterotypes but in reality those same type of drivers drive your everyday car as well.
minitruckin has never been popular in north dakota... so im still lovin it up here !
you dont have to tell me twice about the stereo types. try driving a honda with F&F 1 and 2 came out.... might as well been driving with a red pull me over sign...
... and yea im willing to bet its more "young kids" than veterans fucking shit up. but we are stereotypin ourself and just bitching about it instead of doing something about it.
Last Reso and FFF. Freaks invited clubs new and old to come with us.. we had ENTIRE clubs (new ones) that have never been to a run or even an OUT OF STATE show. Freaks Vegas is at least tryin to Bring back the scene...
As one of the guys from FBI, as well as one of the guys from Twisted, let me clarify:
I LOVE talking to MOST of the people in this scene. I don't have a problem with people buying parts from me for their trucks, either- if these parts were available back in the day, I think most of us would have bought them, too!
What I DO have a problem with is kids that have NO business holding a welder trying to bag their truck on the cheap, calling us crying when their parts don't drop right in for their application, and generally making everyone in the scene look bad with either their poorly fabricated and unsafe trucks or their lousy attitudes and general lack of knowledge about their own rides.
I don't think that applies to a lot of people on StreetSource, because most everyone I talk to on here has a lot of information to share, and the level of quality is pretty darn high from what I've seen in the owner profiles.
The last thing I want to do is chase sales away, but I give mad props to someone that builds their own bag brackets, too!
PLEASE don't stop buying from us or anyone else in the scene just to be MORE hardcore! Use our parts as the foundation for your project, and build it to your own vision! That's what this scene is all about- being different! (But you can still use our parts for that!!!!)
As for the whole Reso drama, I think that definitely has a negative effect on the scene. When somebody that has never been to a run before hears about something like that, I know they think twice before hitting up a show, and that sucks. That kind of crap is part of the reason there's no runs left on the West Coast!
Here's me rambling on... I should have just put in my 2 cents, and you guys got more like $.54! Sorry for that, but my whole LIFE revolves around this scene, and I take it seriously! I'm sure a lot of you feel the same- look how big this thread is getting!
