Anybody have pics of a 2link that runs below the frame, from the stock perches or not. i looked at a bunch of profiles but couldn't find any... please and thanks
1) the factory perches on Mazdas hang lower than the frame, so if you two link it from there, you will lay two link, not frame.
2) If you use the stock perches, the arc of operation is too small, your axle will move forward in the wheel arches and ruin your carrier bearing, u joints, and rear tranny seal. This is with just bag over axle, not even slams.
3) If you use longer bars and mount the two link inside the frame rails, you will not have these problems, but you will need to move the gas tank and, by the time you are done, you will have done as much work as installing a three or four link. Lowfntoy has some pics of his two link done this way in his profile.
On a mazda, two link = not such a hot idea.
Ask me how I know. I bought my truck with a two link installed, and had to replace the entire driveline.
Look at my Profile, The Bags are on the out side of the frame next to pivot point, I have had this set up for 8 years and have had no problems, it lays frame. The bed is off and you can see a descent picture of it. Without the shocks you get 14 " of lift, I am now limited to the shock travel. I did not change the perch locations either. Take a look, it may help you.
I had a two link in my mazda...took it out cause I didnt really like it. there is no side to side movement besides what the bushings give which is little to none. If you look at dragyrs's setup you are limited to running small wheels and the bag gets hit with all the rocks and road debis the tire is picking up. Plus with the bag so far on the side of the bar you are putting alot of stress on the bushings. All in all I say do it right the first time and 4link, or just keep the leaf springs.

Look cool, but I'll bet your axle moves back a good three inches when lifted, lets see a picture! Dont forget one of the pinion angle at +14 inches!
I get ~14 inches of lift too, my pinion angle change is +/- 1 degree and the axle moves forward/aft 0 inches.
You body dropped 3 1/2 inches to lay rocker?

wow i didnt know it was possible for a factory mazda frame to look like that lol...we were goign to traditional my dawg but the frame was plated everywhere and still rusted to hell. so now im in the prosses of a stock floor. guess the NEw Englend winters arent as kind to us as where ever you are from
Just to set it straight, This suspension has been done for over 8 Years. I know we have come a long way in that time with different set ups, hell even bags, I remember 1/4" line on push button Air ride Gauges with 1/8" dumps. SLOW. But, I have driven 48,000 miles with this set up and have not had any problems, Yes at 14" the pinion angle sucks, But I would not drive it that high. Yes I body dropped it 3 1/2", and the rockers do get dragged, we did chop the rocker down a bit by pie splicing them and welding it all back up, should of went more YES, but that was back then!!!!! The Jest of this is to say This truck has been around for awhile, I've owned it 10 years and it was lowered the week I bought it. Bagged a year and a half after that, body dropped 4 years after that. I know there's better ways now, but don't hate something that was built before your time! I have had several projects and you learn along the way. But I own this and will die owning this and it will be built again and probably rebuilt after that! I will build something else better. Nuff said!

just FYI, here is my truck in 1998, 7 years ago.
It had a four link from TCI, and a bag kit from Stage one customs. It was even installed all four forward, with the tank behind the axle.
You'd need to go to 1989 to be minitruckin before my time.
And I'm not being a jerk, I know you cant get a good idea of the inflectiuon of a comment. the good ideas now were good ideas then.
Its just the not so good ideas were cheaper. And when you are looking to put a two link on, that is the ONLY advantage.
in 1998 I was 12 damnit, that trucks clean as shit russ
