brake bleeding problems
Yes, I've also found that one must measure the depth of the new master cylinder and then adjust the booster pushrod length so get the correct freeplay, to avoid issues. I've had master cylinders with different recess depths.
It's in the service manual: how to correctly do this. What I've done on mine is measure the recess depth of the new one, and then adjust the booster pushrod accordingly.
Dan - thanks for the link on the brake booster adjustment. Looks like I've got something new to check this weekend. I adjusted my brakes with the first master cylinder, but it had been a while so I'll double check those again. Unfortunately I can't compare recess depths, but it's definitely good to know to look out for the next time.
Rear brakes adjusted out to where rear tires barely turn by hand
Booster swapped off a running driving truck
Adjusted booster pushrod
New master cylinder
Changed a faulty caliper
And got a one way valve hose for booster
Will build hard pedal when truck is off,
Start truck and pedal damn near hits the floor with little to no restance
Anymore ideas?
I did get rid of the little ABS thing on rear axle, that wouldn't cause this tho huh
Check that the booster is holding vacuum. There is a check valve in the hose leading to it too.
Other then going buy a vacuum, how do I check that?
That the link on last page?
Are you speaking of the check valve that's in the hose that comes out of top of booster?
I got one now
It's off of a truck that ran, drove, and stopped recently
When you blow air into it, it only flows one way
Towards intake
Is the hose on the booster installed correctly - it is directional.
The arrow is pointing towards the metal line on firewall heading to intake
As far as I have been able to find, that is correct
Correct... this?

I am going check that whole list as soon as rain stops
Don't have a gauge tho
Can someone confirm this would be what I need
