LOL - the VG30 is not the best engine even in the cars it comes out of...

So I purchased a 2200 with a 305 in it so I plan to keep it. It is in with no fire wall mod but I need to lower the engine because it is body dropped and I only have an 1 1/2" clearance with the 2600 hood that I want to keep so any help there from any of you guys out there would be great.

Why do you need more than 1-1/2" clearance?

That's just the carb with no air cleaner is there one that is only 1 1/2"

302 FI swap ....... the only way to go. I bought a T boned 91 Mustang for $1200. Pretty much all the parts I needed except for the motor mounts, painless harness, electric fan, driveshaft, exhaust and B&M floor shifter. After I took out everything I needed I sold the mustang for $800.

You can use the stock hood and don't have to modify the engine bay at all. FYI, if you are putting any engine in with any amount of power don't run blocks in the rear. The axle wrap causes wheel hop and your rear end will blow up. And yes the looks you get when you are sitting at a light are priceless.
