Metalcast over the factory red - might be pretty sharp looking if you can lay an even coat using the rattle cans. Either that or just plan on incorporating graphics with the paint job and get some different shades of MetalCast. Use the different shades first, then the red MetalCast as a top coat.
Welcome back! Looks like ya got a good xcab to start with.
and lol @ the "gm" bedliner
good to c ur back mikey!! nice finds by the way
I just got home from picking up the red ext cab. Drove mint 2 hours home. Has a little bit of a whine and an exhaust leak, but doesnt affect how it drives. However, the motor and tranny from the black one are going into the red one. The interior is super clean as is the engine bay. The only panel I have to replace on the truck is the tailgate.
Tonight and tomorrow we start tearing into them. w00t!
Do you need an engine crane?
I was thinking of primering the whole truck, then using the metalcast ground coat, then the colour and then clearcoat.
might help with one since we have to do 2 engine swaps in 1 weekend. we have jackstands and air tools here atleast.
The red truck needs to be fixed up asap. It drives fine, but the brakes need to be checked and the exhaust needs to be fixed.
They are calling for rain tomorrow so at least you'll have time to work on it I might know where to find a header for cheap, I'll look into it tomorrow
