I did not say anything about the reason speed171king is thinking of dropping out. If you wont me to then I will
speed171king don't drop for the reasons you gave its stupid to do so.
My comment was about the GED. Like I said I have a GED I have been at the same place for over 10 years now. I know every job on my line and the other 3 lines in my department and I know how to fix 99% of the brake downs we have. I also know good parts form bad ones sometimes catching stuff that was built 4 stations down from me. Did I have to learn that stuff?!! No I did not my job will be locked in with out that extra know how anyway. (I'm a certified FA operator)I learned it to better myself and to make the jobs of others that don't know as much better. If the company I work for think like you do then I would not be there. I would not be one of there best FAers or best trainers on not only my job but others.
So go ahead and over look me with my GED and grab that HS grads file instead and get a kid that got by with C's and D's Just to get to the end and get a piece of paper that says I sat in class for 4 years and passed.( I'm not knocking on anyone who finished HS with good grades so please don't think I am). But that is all I have to say about that. I wont give my .02cents anymore on the subject. Oh and by the way if you meet me and talked to me, you would never know I got my GED I still study and learn things everyday. (Got to love the internet for that lol )
Pont
I am glad to hear it all worked out for you. You are one of the few that have made something of themselves and that
I know how you feel man, i was in my last year & I got kicked outta my house with nowhere to go, I had to work more hours at my job & eventually it started taking effect on my schooling, I dropped out & got my g.e.d. with only 3 months left in my senior year, the thing that really sucks is now I'm unemployed, but if I could have stayed in school I would have had a free ride thru college, & would now have a degree in computer repair. one day hopefully I'll get everything settled out where I can get back into school, but for right now I'm having enough trouble with being an out of work single dad. Just cause you had to get your g.e.d. doesn't mean your a dumbass or anything like that. I just kinda understand where your coming from.
IMO, a GED is good enough, because it shows that even if you dropped out of school for whatever reason,or did not pass, you still put the effort into getting the GED. I guess a GED is kinda like a silver medal.
Pont and Chris, I agree with both of you on your comments and I'm on the fence with any comments, because you both make very valid and realistic points.
First off I never said anybody was a dumb ass for only having a GED that was somebody else on the thread. I don
Ok...I am too lazy to read everybodys replies...but if you are still undecided about this....Stop.Drop....Oh wait wrong instructions...LOL (gotcha smilin now) keep you arse in school. You will be a bigger fool for dropping out for the reasons I seen. Now I totally agree with the above statement from Tuna...if you were homeless and what not and had to work then that is a different ball game. It sounds like you have a roof over your head and at least a peanut butter sandwhich to eat. Just stay in school deal with it...that is part of growing up. When you do grow up and get a job and have a mortgage, kids to feed, car payments, utilities, etc.... are you going to just quit a job cause you are bored and they don't have any hot chicks working there? Not wise. My brother has done that many times and is just now growing up and realizing how much time he has wasted. He was actually the one who made more than me and had teh experience at the playground manufacturer when I first got into my career...but for the same reasons quit. Anyways....enough of my strong thumbs for now.
im 29 and i dropped out when i was 16. i thought i didnt need school. i learned alot over the years working. my specialty is 12volt electronics and being a mechanic. i got married and had a kid. back in july08 my wife and i seperated and i decided to go back to college fulltime. im getting an associate degree in the gm(asep) course. its a degree program to be a factory trained gm mechanic. after i graduate i will be able to sit for my ase certification tests. i'll be making 40k+ once im graduated. honestly it was good that i didnt go to college after i dropped out and got my ged. i was still in the skipping school mentality. but eventually i decided i NEEDED to go back and continue my education. all any of us can give you is our opinion on this subject. if it was me and i had the choice again. i would stay in school, graduate, go to college and make something of myself. but in the end its your decision. i say.. stick it out as long as you can and at least try to graduate. if college isnt what you want right now then work for a few years (after age 24 its helluva lot easier to get financial aid) but at least make it thru highschool and prove to yourself you can finish something no matter what problems you face. it will make you stronger in the end. when i told my dad i was going back to school , he told me i wouldnt amount to anything, that i needeed to work every day for the rest of my life.
well my goal is to graduate and show him i can finish what i started and better myself.
thats my .02!
jeremy
Good for you Jeremy. Your kids have a Father not just a dad to be proud of.
appreciate the kind words
I went through my freshman year then got locked up at the beginning of my sophmore year for a year. Got out, went back to school for 4 months and got locked up again for the rest of the year. Got out at the beginning of my senior year and got charged as an adult 2 months before gradution and went to the state pen for a year and a half at the age of 17.
I loved high school while I was there! You'll have to much time on your hands to get in trouble with if you're not in school. Don't stress the small things, have fun with what you have.
BE COOL, STAY IN SCHOOL!!!! =)
