Now how come i never had problems with my 1/2" valves before freezing up? It always seems to be my 3/8"

What do you mean never had problems before freezing up...

are you saying that your 1/2 inch valves wouldn't freez and your 3/8s would?

OR

after it froze you only had issues with the 3/8 valves?

Well on my S10 i had bought 8 brand new 1/2" valves and i had it for quite sometime and never had any problems with freezing valves. On my mazda im having troubles with them freezing but i also ran an oiler for my compressor on my S10. That may have had everything to do with no freezing by keeping the valves and lines oiled im guessing. But at the sametime the oil could sit in the bags and eat them inside out.

That brings up yet another question. I seem to remember reading...

Change it to grease, and running an Oiler, and I get the impression this is something that will prolong the life of the compressor?

Anyone know of a tech rightup on how to do this?

What should I look for to see if Ours is done that way already?

heres that link again ==> if you were to go with oil though all youd need is and external oiler on the inlet side of the comp and an oil/water seperator on the outlet side. but you can't do grease and oil.... they dont mix. and for further reference there is a How to section in the threads called tech write ups down by members.

something that might be worth looking into, would be to add a oiler setup on the charge line going to the tank. If you put it after the water trap, you could add air line anti-freeze instead of oil and the system would be less effort to keep you going. Though the tank should still be drained with in a reasonable time frame.
