Maybe new project...

Looks like the wheelbase is around 22-23 feet, only 8 feet longer than a crew cab dually. There aren't really any blocks under the front to remove, just a lot of leafs. I wonder if I could link the front axle and bag it, maybe not the best idea, or maybe a great idea, idk. I've seen on a lot of the newer semis that you can't weld on the frame, would that pertain to this vehicle?

A buddy of mine that just bought a 3500HD very similar to my project (in fact his is a '94 also, but still has the 6.5TD in it) wants to bag it, but for ride comfort, not to slam it. It's a wrecker he's going to spend a lot of miles in, working it, so he wants it to ride smoother.

His plan is exactly that, some kind of link setup on the front, he's concerned about fubar'ing the caster angle as it moves through the range of ride height and has ideas about how to set it up. No idea what his timeline on it is, he just got the truck and put it to work so I'm guessing it's a long term plan.

My HD only has 2 leafs up front, but they're hellaciously thick leafs...how many front leafs does that monster have?

I'm no welder or expert on heat treating but gut feeling says weld on the frame as little as possible as to not screw it up.

I believe eight.

I actually believe I will hit the oil pan prior to the frame with the front axle. So I think if I go very low I will need to raise the motor. I think I should be able to notch the front frame a little to get it pretty low.

The rear I thought a 4-link, run the bags on brackets right in front of the axle and then cut the frame off there. The axle would be the most rear part of the truck, I'm still thinking on this.

Or maybe install a driven axle in the front, make it 4 wheel drive(technically 6).

Well maybe you could pull a leaf or 2 to drop it a little and maybe add a bag to lift it when needed. And do something w/ the fenders to make the sides come down to look lower like the aftermarket fenders/hoods they sell for big rigs. I know some of the aftermarket Pete fenders come down like 3" to make the truck look lower.

Like these...

weld away on the frame it shouldnt hurt it one bit the rocks could be cool too i would like to build one just to snub my nose at the cops because we got a height law an they couldnt say nothing to me about it .they wont let us have a truck over 30 inches high in the rear
