Im on my 4th year of college at WKU......two of my roomates are pledging right.....From them i would say part of it would be fun, and u meet some cool ppl...But at the same time for the next 8 weeks they are having to do a lot of crap....And im seeing them struggle with school (or at least ever making it to class)...One is a mechanical engineer major, and the other pharmacy....I just dont think its something i could do if i didnt have a lot of time on my hands...

i just graduated from college, some of the frats were cool, some were gay. i guess it just depends which dudes you get up with. you certainly have the in with the sororities, which, as we all know, can be VERY promising. just as with anything else, it has its pros and cons, do what YOU want, its all good

I go to tennessee tech and i am a brother of Tau Kappa Epsilon(TKE)and it sounds like everyone knows the typical bullshit FRAT rumors. First of its not a FRAT its a fraternity, YOU DON'T CALL YOUR COUNTRY A CUNT, NOW DO YOU! i have been in a fraterity for a few years now and still able to enjoy the mini trucking scene! Fraternities do not take over your life and control you. i used to be anti-fraternity until i checked it out. i have made alot true friends and it is worth trying. i have had a lot of fun and experiences since i joined. i wouldn't change one thing about it. you don't understand it until you have experienced it!

While I was never a frat kinda guy, I had alot of friends in TKE at my school in Pennsylvania. For the most part they were some cool ass kids.

My view is this... If you are not a very social, outgoing person joining a Fraternity makes a lot of sense. It gives you a way to meet people and something to do almost every weekend. I never really liked the idea of "paying for your friends" but its just basically paying for your tab. You never have to pay for a drink at a frat/sorority party because you're greek. It works out well if you like to drink and party.

Personally I never joined because I found that I could make friends really easily. I went to tons of frat/sorority parties, socials, formals etc. just because of who I knew and became friends with. I also went to tons of non-greek events and had just as much fun.

So to sum it up, if you're outgoing it depends on what you wanna do...

i go to a small liberal arts college in portland, or. but idk if our school even knows what a fraternity is... i guess the closest thing we have to a frat is getting wasted and breaking stuff... im sure the idea or concept of a frat could be cool cause youd make some good friends, but im fine with just drinkin and building mini whips...

well, everyone says you are paying for friends. i was in a fraternity for a while, had problems paying the dues, so i got out. i made some good friends, some that aren't worth a shit, and there were some i didnt even like while i was in the fraternity. i think being in a fraternity definitely has its pluses. my fraternity had mandatory study hall if you having problems with school (including pledges). it does bring up a lot of commitments (meetings, parties, and mixers) that would take up a lot of time. in the end its really up to you

I've always thought paying shitloads of money just to hang out with people is fucked up.
