you are not bugging me man. i am just busting your chops a little. yea, the humming of the truck used to put me to sleep on a long trip. that is when i could hear it over the so called junk i had in it
i just say its my super charger... hahaha
who would ever know the truth?
Sorry just callin em like I see em. And I just busting your chops.
what? i cant hear you. you have to speak louder! those bad ass kickers and jl amps have made me hard of hearing. j/k man, i have had my share of busted chops as well. as far as calling them how you see them, i feel the same way about squarebodies(hence my sig...)
Got under the truck Saturday and found that the carrier bearing is rasied about an inch an half two inches. I will have the new carier bearing pressed in wednesday, and I will put in the ujoints...
Pray for me....I hope that solves it...Yet judging from It may be a torque converter?
I have never heard of a torque converter humming...
The noise is consant but unheard until about 50 mph...gets damn loud at 75, 80.
Lifting it or lowing it doesnt change the sound. If you put it in neutral at speed you can still hear it...the sound changes...prolly cause you can hear it better.
from the sound of that, i think you have a rear diff. problem. if it was the carrier, it will be at all speeds, not just the higher speeds. have you checked the backlash in the diff? or the fluid for that matter? jack it up, and spin 1 side a quarter turn and then back the other way real fast, and if you have slack, you will feel it clunking. too much diff endplay= humming at higher speeds. while you are getting to speed, the rear is under strain, and it will not make noise. once you are up yo speed, the gears will not be as tightly meshed from the strain, and then you will hear it. try this, and holla back. later, brian
Also check both sides of the rear end for fluid leakage and if thats the case could be a bad axel bearing.
