why?
its really simple. People have huge internet muscles, they can start threads on what should happen and point out whats wrong easily.
But at shows when kids or even old pros act up, everyone looks the other way until its time to type out a "why is everyone hating" post on their favorite message board.
Speak up. Practice what you are preaching, and dont try to do it with muscle, educate and teach the people acting like fools that there isnt really a need for it. Hang out with them in your town and let them see what its supposed to be like, its not like the marathon drag DVD's with non-stop mayhem. Its about meeting up with the guys in your area and helping each other out, even if they are 17 and working on yet another static S10. Schedule meets and hangouts where you can show local businesses that you are dollars and not miscreants.
It needs to start improving, old guys know we have been losing big shows since the early 90's. But it isnt going to start on a message board. It needs to happen before you even go to a show.
You're right. It is easy to start a thread. But if you were at Summer Splash this past year ask anyone in No Regrets or anyone who was security, I was trying as hard as I could to keep the peace. I am living by my words. So, I am trying to save the scene. So I do practice what I preach.
Bump, just because more people should be reading this...
i read that column mike wrote in minitruckin, was good..But i really just think in general that this generation is falling apart and grabbing at everything they can because all they know of is sex at 14 & beer and drugs are cool. No one has any respect for eachother & their belongings. I know that even a while back in like 02 i went to a show and it was like every little clicky group to themselves and everyone was ready to fight and/or defend their turf. ShIt just wigs me out how lame that people can be sometimes because they are pissed that "you've got this, or someone has that" Its all a grand, SO ENJOY THE SHOW!
ive been going to shows all my 23 yrs of existence on this earth, my dad was a vanner and also had a mini and me my dad and mom would go and the kids would play together and the adults did there thing and there were no problems, the last show we went to as a family was a run in king city or something i was young and we played in the river, had games, had a blast. now that i am into the minitruckin scene for 7 years now ive seen it going downhill, i know alot of people that i dont like to hang out with because they just want to get trashed and fuckup some other peoples shit. common guys, they dont give a dam usually because they dont work on there own vehicles and really get into it. hopefully FFF never goes away, but i have to tell you that is the best show ive ever been to and i havent noticed the idiots out at that show. i have a good time there and meet alot of new people. lets make the future better for the kids lol
like i say theres a time and place for everything.
Well put. I know I have done some stupid shit at shows to make people laugh(jump off the balcony at ITB..ect) But it seams like every year there is people who have had way to much to drink and start fights, detroy hotels, ect.
Sometimes people need to know if they dont know what they are doing then they shouldnt try and bag a truck. People should give out constructive critisism and if one person points out a mistake, why does 50 other people have to do the same thing.
And its not only the new guys who are talking crap either. I have seen many people who have feature worthy hand built rides that knock on people b/c the stuff is under construction, or just learning how to do body work. Remeber, everybody is a beginner at some point.

exactly. I get tired of even the attitudes on ssm, nevermind the attitudes at shows. Good job standing up for minitrucking at shows Ben, not enough people do it.
The weakest term this century is "hater", it seems like if you have a really high opinion of yourself and everyone else doesnt immediately agree, it isnt a matter of you earning and gaining respect, its that everyone is a hater. Well I'll tell every eminem wanna be who thinks he's the first guy on the planet to roll a bagged s10, I'm not a hater, you are just inexperienced. If you want my help, ask for it, and dont be a bitch when I dont bend heaven and earth to make you feel like top fucking dog.
And there is whats wrong, thats the crux of it. 1) Old guys do the "do as I say and not as I do" and act like the new guys are all fucktards, and 2) at least half of the new guys are fucktards. But everyone can learn. Old, new, everyone in between. Old guys stop acting like giant pimps because you remember how to turn down torsions, and dont go to shows to act up whil your wife isnt around. New guys stop acting like the world owes you a diamond crusted pimp cup because you managed to bag your 10 year old s10 andhavent killed anyone yet.
GALLEEEKA @$#^%@# man this topic makes me so mad.
I'm going to sand on my tailgate now.
Honestly if I ever meet Russ-D, I'm giving him a hug.
