Any cops or people who know the law, is this legal?

dude, i would just let it pass, if you piss him off by calling him in as a harrassment charge, you will have problems out of him for now on. (i know from ex.)

If the cop that pulled you over is a local cop where you live, I wouldn't waste my time with the harrassment charge. He will know your car. But next time you get pulled over, ask questions. If the cop doesn't tell you why he is pulling you over, ask him why before you give him permission to search your car. I don't know the law on searching vehicles but I would find out before you give the cop permission. If he doesn't have cause to search your car, I would think he is harrassing you. KNOWING THE LAW is your best defense. Don't let the cop do whatever just because he's a cop.

In oklahoma they can pretty much pull you over for anything. They say there not allowed to w/o probable cause,but there way around that is they want to make sure you have a lic. and insurance. Then if they assume you might be holding drugs or guns then they ask to search your ride. I've had my truck searched before but they never found anything and they searched EVERY possible location! I wouldn't think theres much you could do but if your intent on doen something and you got a LOT of free time then by all means go for it. I just think its a losing battle. Thats just me personally.

While there is a limit on how long an officer can follow you. (haven't seen the code). If's VERY simple for them to just say they were driving and then started to notice items wrong with your vehicle. Most officers are not in it to be a dick. But I have seen, the cleaner your ride the more likely you are to get pulled over to "check it out". I've been pulled over many many times in the toy. Some are complete asses. Some are real cool. I've got nothing to hide so I just let them search. When they realize how hard it is to get around in the truck they give up. If you do say no, I guarantee they will pull out the VC book and go to town. Most of the time they don't fully understand the codes so they will write you up incorrectly. While it's neat to beat them in court it does take alot of time out of busy days. I've run into cops that check out the toy. Chat with them and find out they used to pull my s-10 over all the time. Had one guy say much better job this time. So its your choice to fight it but the more UC you look the higher the rate of pull over. Logic... if the ride looks like that what else is wrong with it.

The cop pulled you over becouse of the tint and primmer!! its not right but thats why..
he waited on the other officer becouse of the tint also there was no way for him to know how many people were in that car. as far as the search you said ok so that gives him all the right to search..in a cops mind the tint is there for a the purpose of hiding something not becouse you think it looks cool. look at it this way if he was being a dick you would have got a ticket. just be happy you didnt get one.

ya if you wouldnt have let him search the car you would of definately gotten at ticket, thats probably the only reason they let you off. That and you being white probably helped out a bit.

it sucks you got profiled like that, but it's good to hear you didn't get a ticket, & it's even better to hear you were cool with them.

i used to get stopped all the time & i used to be a disrespectful little sh*t, but i've finally grown up & realized that if you treat them with respect (even if it's an act) they're usually really cool.

also what helps me is to keep copies of the RCW's in the glove box so if they do mess with you, they realize you know your stuff & they tend to go away (at least if you built your ride up to code). WA doesn't have a law about LED's as long as they're red, meet height requirements, & spaced as laterally as possible. i got stopped for them about a month ago & said, "well sir, it says here..." & he left me alone.

the main thing i've learned is CALL THEM SIR...ALOT!!!!! not only will it make you look good, but it helps the rest of us as a scene. you know cops pull over hundreds of punk ass kids like i used to be in minis & if they get to see that at least one of us isn't an a-hole, it just might help out everyone else.

Alright, now to get to your question about if it's legal... Cops love to OBSERVE what you do when they are around. Just think about it, if they are sitting there watching you, then if you are doing something illegal than you are more than likely to act nervous and fuck up.
And about why he only searched the forward part of your car. Again it was all to see how you acted probably. While he was going thru your car I am sure that he was also watching you to see what you do. If you were to act nervous then it might lead him to believe that you are worried about something. And if your worried then you must have something to hide so he would of kept looking. But since you acted cool and didn't "trip" then I am sure that he decided you were good to go and just let you on your way.
The most important thing is that you were not a dick to the cop. Remember, to get respect you have to give it. So if you want the cops to be cool with you then you have to be cool with them.
