i agree with most of this but most people need motivation to finish their rides and if they keep hearing "you fukked your ride up!" they are never gonna wanna finish it and probably fall out of the minitruckin sport. when i bought my truck i didnt even know what a bodydrop was and i had a bad experience with other people working on my truck so i decided to learn on my own. i have had to fix a lot of things i messed up the first time but you live and you learn. i have also done quality work on other peoples rides but i made sure i aquired the skills before i did work on other peoples rides. where i live there arent many minitruckers so its not like i have a bunch of people to help me and im pretty sure people on here can relate. i have a learned alot from people on this site and i probably wouldnt still be working on my truck if i never recieved any positive comments. my point is, i think more people should try to help instead of making them feel like sh1t. instead just let them know what they are doing wrong and maybe let them know how to do it right. but i agree 100% if its unsafe keep it off the road and if you dont know what your doing dont work on other peoples rides. now im going to sleep
A problem with trying to help som eof these "Type 3s" is that they take constructive criticism the wrong way and think you're talking shit. They get deffenseive, and then refuse to listen. I think theres a certain attitude that goes with the "Type 3s" as well.

shut up cris and what Jance said about that "built not bought" quote: i agree with ya buddy! i think that quote is total HORSE SHIT!! i bought my truck built and am learning a lot from it. as i change something, i learn, and once i know something that ive changed is done the right way ill tell other folks how to do it. if im not 100% sure that im correct on what im saying i wont say it at all! i would much rather buy a truck thats built and learn from it,figure out what could be changed for the better, change it, and learn from it. not buy a stock truck throw on some shitty fab work and say "built not bought bitches, i did this shit myself" i HATE that. from what all yall say it seems like there is a lot of inmature lil punks out there doin shit work and trying to look cool.

Thanks Seth..thats what I'm trying to get at. Too many guys have the "if he can do it, I can do it attitude" and nothing you say will sway them away from it.

This is definitely true. And I hate to see it. Mostly because its from the younger guys, which is a category I fall under. Its usually the young guys with the ego problems too. Shit like that pisses me off. And I hate getting thrown into a generalization with those guys.

It doesn't really bother me that much but I would like to see someone that says that quote, actually do 100% of their own work and have it be a "#1" build.
I was watching American Hot Rod tonight and they sent out a car to have the top chopped at another shop, it wasn't that they couldn't do it themself they just wanted the best possible result and they weren't comfortable doing it themself.
I don't see anything wrong with that. If you are making a show vehicle and spending a lot of money then and you want it to look the best you would do the same thing if there was something you weren't comfortable doing yourself and no one would think any less of you as a builder, or shouldn't anyways.
Even the best of the best don't do 100% of their own work. Some people say "If you own it but you didn't build it, then it's not really yours." If that were true I would "own" real estate all over Oklahoma since I do carpenter work for a living
