what got you into minis
Birth on I spent every waking second in a custom shop, my pops was a kid of the 50s and has owned the shop almost 50 years. Everyday of my life I'd stare through thousands of our black an white pictures sittin around the shop (my favorites were always the lowest, the story of my life lol) and listen to badass stories about fights, zip guns, women, cars, an choppers I was - and still am hooked on the old days. I always wished it was like the old American Graffiti days growing up for me but it wasn't you know how that is. So I made it happen the best I could for me when I was about 13 with what I had around. After a while I had a channeled Mazda pickup (the hardestcore mod in the 50s so I had to have it) because of it some kids in a local club called Severed Ties asked me to be in their club, I'd never heard of it but it sounded like the old days with new guys like me so I said hell ya my dream was slowly comin' true - finally I'd found kids like me for the first time and then later a cruise strip and naked well that's another story. Anyway one day a kid in the club who I had become friends with asked me if I had seen the new "Minitruckin'" and I was like WTF is Minitruckin'? Haha this was years back, z-71s were like 26s back then and a body drop to the pinch was like looking at a UFO on a mass destruction path~ Imagine that... Haha, its been a ride I wish I had enough time to tell the whole story in detail. You should have been there!
kurt's caddy. was like 14 or so and it drove past while i was riding to walmart with my dad.
Ive always thought trucks were sick when the ground clearance was eliminated. Back in high school, i got into the street race scene. after gettin a honda where i wanted it, i wanted somethin new and different. A buddy of mine down the street had a bagged 1500 and i started askin questions. after the honda got stolen and i got my check, i bought a mini and it was on like Donkey Kong!
I grew up around classics with my father running a restoration shop. He hired a guy that just moved here from cali and has been building "lowrider" trucks since the late 70's. He bought a 89 FSC right when he got here and static dropped it like 1.5" inches off the ground. Thats when i got hooked on trucks.
I know the date July 4, not sure on the year 94-95ish. Anyways after watching fireworks with my parents we went to the gas station and at the pump next to us this thing rolled up 92 isuzu named "my wettest dream" It belonged to Jake Moomey (BIGJAKE on ssm) it was the sweetest thing I had ever seen....way ahead of its time. Got mini truckin magazine shortly after and never looked back.Well a mix of this and seeing lowriders in Corvette summer thinking they were bad ass' doin 5mph down the highway
I was probably 10 years old when my dad took me to High school nationals at Norwalk raceway Park. My dad was raving his cruiser in the Cop vs. Student races whne he pulled up next to a Mini (not sure what kind, thinging s10) that some crazy ass graphics and dros. Next thing ya know he was flipping switches at the staging lanes. Was into them ever since. Bought an old show truck at 17, now I am almost and still in the process of rebuilding that truck.
I was always into 4x4s growing up,but when I was about 13 or so I would always drive past this shop called(at the time) Alter Images and would see this truck and I knew the owner (Steve) through my uncle, so one day I had my grandma stop in there so I could check it out and basically and was hooked on minis ever scince then.
3 days after i bought my truck i was in high school history when my best friend asked what i was gonna do to my new truck. i told him i was gonna lift it. the next day he brought me a pic of a baby blue '96 ranger layin rocker....
passin the pizza shop everyday and seeing-->

Well I have always hated 4x4's, but I was into old rods and street machines. Then about 5-6 years ago a friend of mine showed me a Truckin mag with a bagged chevy on the front. The next month I started buying Truckin, then I always liked the minis, so i started getting Mini Truckin. About 1 1/2 years ago i bought my '98 Sonoma and I will never look back. I am so addicted now that I would drive anything as long as it was low and shaved up. MiniTruckin for LIFE
