Ok so I'm a little behind on my updates, but that's 'cuz I was having some computer problems. Anyways, Friday I got to the hospital and Jaykob had no more feeding tube and no more nasal cannula! It is so exciting to see my son's face without tubes and to be able to hold him and dress him without having to worry about all that stuff. Today, April 1, he turned a month old. He has an MRI of his head Monday morning and we have been told to prepare to take him home either Monday or Tuesday...I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Well, the big day finally came...I went to the hospital and Jaykob was down having an MRI. While he was gone a few people came up to me and said "So today's the day, huh?" I knew it was a good possibility that we were going home today, but to hear people actually saying it made it feel that much more real. Jaykob got back from MRI and I was so excited 'cuz I was dressing him in the clothes he would be leaving with...I was dressing him with NOTHING attached-no oxygen tube, no feeding tube, no leads to his monitors...finally it felt like I was dressing a normal, healthy baby. Not long after that, daddy arrived and we were packed and walking out the doors. I thank each and every one of you for all of your thoughts, prayers, and support. What would we do without all of that? It feels so great to be sitting here at this very moment holding my son, knowing that he is HOME and tomorrow morning I get to get up and look beside my bed and see him instead of getting dressed to go to the hospital. So here's Jaykob's NICU numbers: 33 days in NICU (7 of them were 2 hours away in Columbia), 5 days on ECMO (the bypass machine he was on), 12 days on the ventilator, 3 days under the oxygen hood, and 17 days with a nasal cannula...what a rough road but we've made it...WAY TO GO JAYKOB!!
