Damn, you guys are just all fulla love today aren't ya! "what's your opinion on shooting on grass?"Honestly Mike, I really don't have an opinion pro or con about shooting on grass. As you know, sometimes at some events, our choices are slim. Here at home, none of us would even consider shooting a truck on grass, well, because there isn't much to shoot on, and if you did, you'd probably get a ticket real quick! If all things were equal and I had my choice, I'd go with pavement or concrete first. There have been some real nice images shot of a vehicle on grass. BD trucks look mucho better on a hard surface though.Cliff, I'm old school in today's photography world. I cut my teeth on film and still think a medium format slide flat out rips up most digital images. But times are changing and even I have had to embrace digital. It's great for everything we do for mags. My only beef is in trying to get a digital image to look like it was taken with a MF film camera. I'm just hard headed that way. My digital gear sucks in comparison to what my MF camera would produce, so this whole transition has been extremely frustrating for me. I'll have to become a freelancer to ever afford the camera gear necessary to capture what my 645 would. Devin, I've seen some of your stuff on AP and you got skills dude. Don't underestimate yourself. I appreciate all of the comments, but there are some really good shooters out there these days that can equal anything I have managed to capture over the years. One thing you have to remember is that just about all of the stuff you like was slide film. I have yet to come even remotely close to that same depth of an image with digital. That said, I don't want this to become a BMC thread. Let's see some other images of black trucks taken by others. I'm sure there are some fine images we can comment on. BMC

Since I was just editting this pic and it felt the topic I thought I would toss it into the mix.
Shooting on Grass?- If I can avoid it I will. I personally think it does not compliment the vehicle well at all. The only pics I ever see in the grass are guys who are trying to make their vehicles look lower. Personally I like asphalt, concrete, and even dirt of gravel more than grass. Like stated from Brian, sometimes you have to work with what you have and shooting on grass becomes the only option which I guess in thoses situations you just have to make due.
Brian- Thank You for the kind words, I am learning of the watching people like yourself and Mike and the others out there who have the opportunity to shoot not only the most beautiful vehicles but in some of the best locations.
Mike- You know your the man bro! Actually, I like your theme ideas. I think the photo shoot for XXX Sled was a great idea and it takes alot of creativity.

Thanks man! It just takes a lot of patience to bring an idea to fruition... that's what i get frustrated about the most, i want everything to be perfect and super creative and sometimes, less IS more

I noticed Mike said he'd like to shoot something at the 'water pad'... I've always wondered why it seems Street Trucks always used it- and it seems to ALWAYS turn out amazing photos. I'm sure other mags use it, but mostly ST features come to mind. And whats the skinny on this location?(and mike, be patient... maybe me and you can take a ride out there one day. and I don't mean for a picnic so don't even go there.... )

Ever consider shooting with an infrared lens? i've seen some pretty wild pics come from those. Especially when there is grass or tree's in the pics.
