rant about our lifestyle
This topic will never go away. Street Rodders are the same way. You have your street rods that are hella high class with 10's of 100's of thousands of $$$ spent on them and you got rusted out rat rods that look like they are ready to fall apart. The issue is not whether its a dragger or a trailer queen, why do those insist on looking down upon those who have spent a hella amount of money on their shit and dont want to fuck it up!!! I was once one of those guys 10-11 years ago making $6-7 an hour and doing whatever I could to make ends meet around buying parts and shit for my truck. Now that I have graduated college, learned to fab, weld, fiberglass and do body work I still do all my work myself (except for paint and chrome) and I still wont drag my shit and it will go to a show on a trailer. Can someone explain to me why me wanting to keep my ride lookin as slick as I can is so wrong!!!! We are all on the same friggin team....we've all been there, I got hella respect for those who can take there prestine ride and drag the hell out of it, I think its cool as shit but what the hell does me bringing my truck to show on a trailer have to do with anything?!?!? What the shit...are we next going to be criticized for not letting people beat the hell out of our trucks with ball bats ir let someone key our paint jobs and look down on the owner for not being "cool" with it????
Sponorships are a way for companies to give back to the consumers, I got sponsors and I work hella hard to get my shit together to represent. The only thing I can see wrong with this thread is someones truck didnt get sponsored or shot in the mag, now if you dont mind im taking my ball and im going home!!!
Nics got it right, people who bitch "built not bought" always want insane CRACKHEAD prices for their trucks when they are finished. Look in the classifieds here or mautofied.com at all the wishful thinking if you want proof.
Minitruckin the SHOW SCENE is getting stupid, if you dont have 30 drunk idiots causing problems you have bitchy people who's sole purpose is to complain.
Minitruckin the SPORT is still about hanging out, friends, cruising, and helping other minitruckers. I know for a fact that the bulk of minitruckers in my town and surrounding have helped someone else out, for free, in person. Sometimes more than one person.
So if you want to sit at home and bitch about magazines and judging and how the whole scene is going down the toilet, I say to you GET OFF YOUR ASS and OFF YOUR COMPUTER and throw some wrenches in your friends engine compartment or the front suspension of a guy you just met or even your neighbors yard, so you can help him fix his mower when he runs over your wrench.
The ineternet gave everyone a place to voice their opinions, but it doesnt mean any of them are vaild. Hate the devil box.
Ha ha, THE COMPUTER IS THE DEVIL!!!!
i think i just fell in love with NIC

#1 The bar of mini-truckin' in the past 5+ years have risen EXTREMELY HIGH!!! Doing complete frame up builds are becoming the normal, competing against and winning street/hot rods now. If you want to stay back in the 80's and build a truck from scrap metal laying around the garage then snag a time machine. Times have changed. I agree it sucks, but the caliber of rides are CRAZY CLEAN and BADASS!!!!
#2 If you finish your truck I'm pretty sure you'd LIKE TO SELL it right? To work on ANOTHER PROJECT!!! So you are PUTTING DOWN others that buy done/finished trucks, so now you're screwing yourself, or you plan on keeping your project until you die, or gonna blow it up for insurance money?
#3 If you was on the flip side of the coin receiving the free shit, you'd turn it down?
#4 Different magazines do different things. So why you worried if others like hangin' off editor's nuts? Maybe they like being gay?
#5 There are ALOT of people in your place and do the same thing you do, so just chill out and let the players do their thing. Just sounds like your jealous they're getting free shit and you're not.

Build your truck the way you want it on the budget you have (wether that includes sponorships or not) & be happy with it. If you win a couple trophies, see it on a DVD, or land a feature or two, then be proud of it & congrats.
But like its already been said if trucks arent built differently, and even with different budgets for that matter, all the trucks would be the same and everyone would have a room full of trophies and magazine features.
Hell, Ive got a extremly mild full size but have met and even got compliments from the guys with the wildest baddest cover trucks and snagged some trophies along the way.
So build it for you, dare to be different even.
I read the rant...I'm not reading everyone's replies but here is mine. I agree to a point when it comes to the sponsoring and such but I've also known guys who did get sponsored, who did pay a dollar for thier truck, that busted thier asses building them with the free shit they get. When it comes down to it though...what I love the most about this "lifestyle" is that it's a family. When you see one of us go down, you see the rest jump in. It is about the trucks but more so about the people who have grown to love and respect everyone else in the sport. Sure you may have a few bad apples but I've had a lot proven to me in these last couple of years when we lost a fellow minitrucker in an unfortunate accident how much of a family this lifestyle really is. Like some of these guys have already said...our truck has def. made into mags...maybe not featured...but I know my man is not out sucking some editor off. Who cares about the mags. If you're in this for the mags. you're in this for the wrong reason. I love the magazines cause I see the trucks that I hope to one day meet the standards of with my own trucks building it on my own ,not sponsored and that is what I'll have one up on them. That's just my opinion on this whole lil rant.
usually when my hemroids act up I like to rub them with course toilet paper
wow the horse is dead on this one, but who said that getting a sponsor was easy.

whocares, build your shit, drag it, drink some beers, meet some people, and have a good time.
I wish people would get the sand outta their vagina and not worry about everyone else's shit.
