on my sheetmetal med i cut the entire floor and bed sides out and then renforced it with a bunch of 1x1 square tubing. once the square tubing was all in place i laid my 16 guage metal over it. added some tubs and then welding everything together. ground all the welds smooth and then added some filler on top of that. primed it and sealed. no problems

I tacked mine together every inch or less.My body guy said it would be ok to lay bondo over and not have to worry about cracking.I know my part of the deal the welding was more than strong just for a bed floor side walls and tubs since its mainly for looks

how did you make the reinforcements ont he bed sides? did you run them diagonal or straight up and down every few inches and did you plug weld your sides to the reinforcements? i am alittle worried that the sides will look wavy if you weld them to the reinforcements.

Try using 14 gauge very little chance you will have that problem of warpage...my bed now is only 8" deep so that took away a lot of metal on the sides with a lot less chance of that problem. The floor i cut out the old existing and made a new one with 1x1 all the way through. The backk and front pieces i oput a 45 degree break in thema at my work which helps a lot with things being wavy because with the breack its perfectly straight and stronger than just flat

do not bondo over seam sealer!!!! i had to redo a smoothed fire wall on a 56 chevy that somebody had done this. it was a mess. i had to strip all of that shit out, weld the seam solid, and smooth it back out, and repaint it. there was a line popping up every where the seam sealer was.

id use panel bond.... seam sealer stays kinda soft, panel bond gets hard as a rock....
