I was wondering if anyone has gotten close to 250hp with a mazda 2.0? I am really wanting about 200RWHP. Is this at all feasable? I am thinking .04 bore. Some tough rods & pistons. Decked & dipped block. Fat Cam. Full port polish 3-angle. Some kind of 40 carb. Full exhaust. Some serious spark.
Is that gonna get me anywhere close!?! Anyone on here running or built a maxed out 2.0?
They used to have superchargers for these engines a long time ago, but i have never seen one. Anyone know of a similar blower. Maybe for a different car/truck!?!
ThanksD Boyle
youll most likely need forced induction to get that much balls out of a mazda. a turbo system would probably be the best way to go. if you wanna run a carb, ive seen guys run a weber side draft (or down draft) on the inlet side of the turbo and then just plumbed it to intake.
russ-d has a pretty killer motor and hes said that its peppier, but no powerhouse.
good luck man. there are guys on here with Mazdas that will have more specifics for you.
turbo a kia sportage motor, its a 16v mazda 2.0l and has 130hp stock. Jim (madLowMazda) has some of the same upgrades I did to my 2.0 8v and he should be seeing around 150 or so with stock internals.
Forget about a carb with a 200hp normally aspirated 2.0l motor though, anything that powerful will be a "one note" engine, either all on or RLS. Carbs can only be tuned for one specific rpm band, so that kind of engine will always be snorting and running rich on a carb just driving around town, however fuel injection can adapt to any load or rpm.
Thanks Bryan
Hey Russ
Yeah i saw Jim's profile the other day and had to laugh. your such a trendsetter man!
He does have a sweet ride.
So whatever i decide to build i should use/convert to fuel injection. I am guessing that the Kia motor is fuel injected since you recommended it. Would the planned build-up be nessicary on the Kia or just make a Turbo setup for it. Think i could push it that far stock!?!
Oh Snap, he does have the Kia motor in there... Flippin Sweet. Damn i want one.
You could undoubtedly get 200 out of stock internals by turboing.
What I cant answer is how long it will last. Its a fairly high ompression engine, and rebuild would probably need lower compression pistons to really pour on the boooost.
Yes its fuel imjected, its a 1998 engine.
Jims truck is the biggity biggity bomb diggity and he has just monster enthusiasm for Mazdas. I cant wait to ride in it, I'm thinking about gong to see him in the spring.
russ you are going to be one of the first to ride in my mazda after I get it all done, I'll drive out to see you and we can tear it up in the mazdawgs
haha mines already torn up.
I cant wait to ride in yours Jim, I'm truely honored.
Maybe around December 13th I will have time to tinker with mine though. Till then its just a dream.
A fish dream.
I would go with a 2.3 turbo from a merkur, thunderbird turbo coupe or svo mustang.
Just run a dodge ram turbo like the one that
IF custom is running on their 84 mustang svo.
It is at around 300 plus hp.
this is a guys truck from creative styles i would try to get intouch with that club ato get some info on it because its turboed.
