thats a bull shit ticket, and false, if it was against the law, then old schools with skirts would be illegal.

you should be able to beat it, my sister had a ticket thrown out for the cop writing down the wrong color of the vehicle, your cop wrote down the wrong offense. Good luck
LOL...that won't hold up in a FL court because the officer wrote the ticket in "good faith" and its not going to get tossed because of a color difference.

what is it? i got a ticket today for being "too low", but when i looked up the statute # online (316.251) it
Bryan, Being a LEO in FL, I have had many friends come to me with the same question about that statute. I have never written a ticket for a vehicle being "too low" and you are right in assuming that the statute is for vehicles that are in violation of being "too high." I would take the citation to court and or contact a state trooper post and maybe they can shed some light on the subject. Troopers deal alot with traffic and vehicle violations, as normal road patrol officers like myself do not, therefore they are a tad more proficient at "loopholes" in writing tickets for meaningless reasons. The only other recourse would be to contact a the Florida Dept of Transportation and ask them the specifics of your ticket.
If you bring the citation to court, request a trial. Show your vehicle front bumper next to a yard stick and point out what the statute states and where your vehicle does NOT exceed the 28"... Goodluck with it!

in indiana its licences plates have to be 12 inches off ground
also in indiana you are only allowed to legally modify your suspension 3 inches up or down.
up here in oregon i got a ticket for being to low, but the officer said that since my frame is lower than the kowest part of my wheels, that means its to low. but the cop didnt even show up to court. oh well, saved my ass on a 500 dollar ticket! but generaly i thin it is...if the lowest part or the license place is lower than the lowest part of your wheel. than that is classified as being to low.
Im down in Ft lauderdale area, my frame is 2.5 inches off the ground... i've never got a ticket (thank GOD) and never any questions asked... except if i am bagged...lol
It has to do with either bumper heigth or headlight heigth. Here's something from the law books:
Bumper Height Requirements
Owners of automobiles and pickup trucks are required to have both front and rear bumpers mounted within certain height levels. Height limitations are governed by the net shipping weight of the vehicle; not the modified or altered weight. The maximum allowable heights between the pavement and bottom of the front and rear bumper, provided by section 316.251, Florida Statutes, are:
* Cars with a net weight of less than 2,500 pounds - 22 inches front and rear.
* Cars 2,500 pounds or more but less than 3,500 pounds - 24 inches front and 26 inches rear.
* Cars 3,500 pounds or more - 27 inches front; 29 inches rear.
* Trucks under 2,000 pounds 24 inches front; 26 inches rear.
* Trucks 2,000 pounds or more but less than 3,000 pounds - 27 inches front, and 29 inches rear.

i totally understand that. thats the statute i was "violating" however, nowhere in that statute does it say a MINIMUM height. therefore im fighting it.
