If I see something on tv (pimp my ride especially), I feel less likely to buy it! I don't want something the general public thinks is great. As far as SEMA and magazine ads, I do not buy them because they were there, but I will research it if it catches my eye. But that's my nature, to research before I buy stuff; that's actually part of my job!
I think we are only a fraction of the market and probably not who there target market is.They have the shows to teach people that probably know nothing about rides..just know the basic "subs",tv's,etc...so of course none of US would ever buy from what we see on TV..but it wouldnt doubt me one bit that people not knowledgable would be impressed and buy based on these build a ride shows.I think your question is good.your just asking the wrong people.
