yeah usually when it starts smoking when you start it up, its just a sign of a tired motor. it will still run fine though...hell i put 50 thousand on mine with a smokin motor like that. lol. not to mention the timing chain that would tick everytime i started it until it finally just did it all the time.
its the timing chain that ticks for a few seconds after start up?? i thought it was the valves tapping
Hell, mine smokes when I crank up and when I bury the throttle....and I have 343k on my motor(original motor too). It runs like a champ and I drive it 100 miles a day for work.
im only at 228k on my original motor, only major thing done is the clutch..im about to do my headgasket though
nope its the timing chain starting to get loose. mine did it like that for a long time, and then it just progressivly got worse. it did it when i started it, then it would tick when i floored it or was going up a hill, then it just did it all the time. its a pretty typical thing for the 22r with that many miles on it.
ya same here mine got worse and made a slight hole in the timing cover so it started to mix oil n shit, but i got it before it fucked anything up,i got lol 187k on mine origianl motor, only major thing that i done was the clutch, headgasket and the timing cover thing but nothing to big
wow im glad u told me that, i might as well do my timing chain when i do my headgasket
