okay man imagine instead of getting the kit, the way they use to be done in the day...usually peeps would get another set of doors to work with...but they will cut the jams off and the the front and rear sections of the doors and then revers the side as well as front to back if your following me then reweld the cut sectons into there new locations making the Suicide doors have a factory appearance...there is more to it but that's the idea in a nut shell...only stock parts are used no kits.

you've got it all wrong man...

go open a door done with a suicide door kit... watch where the door goes in relation to the body panels... it "sticks out"

now go open your stock door... notice how it goes into the body kinda thing... using stock hinges to suicide your doors witll get you this result

I dunno if i explained it very clear, but its the best i could do for now.

When you open your door on stock hinges the outside of the doors swinges inside the fender. When you use stock hinges for suiciding your doors the outside door skin swings inside to cab area.

When you use hing kits you will notice the outside of your doors skin swings out and back so it comes near your outer cab skin or sometimes on standard cabs even opens near the gap between bed and cab...

I hope that helped some understand the difference between stock hinges and aftermarket suicide hinges.... I don't believe one is better then the other but I like the opening motion of stock hinges

I don't know what you people are talking about, when you suicide doors with stock hinges the door goes outside the cab just like the aftermarket hinges do. Maybe I reading something wrong I don't know.

I see what you're saying...but I didn't even cover that aspect of it....I was trying to explain how it was done not the differance in how the 2 swing...but it's all good. I basicly trying to explain that say the rear portion of the passenger door would be relocated to the front portion of the driver door once the work was complete....but I agree I like how the stock hinges work. Also I don't really care if they will swing a full 90 or not like the kits.

mpeace, you need to look at some stock hinge suicide doors. they open out but the inner door edge opens in.

general blanket statements most of the time are not factual. not unless you have checked every kind of hinge kit there is. there are some that are made for heavy doors that are far beefier than a stock everage hinge. id love to see Jason come out with a kit hinge that works like a stock one. they would certainly sell well.
