Basically, remove the existing rubber, trim out any excess metal that would keep the window from closing while up, then clean it up and use a rubber seal like a car with no window frame uses......if you aren't wanting it to leak, that is.

You can get a ton of different style seals at Home Depot, or similar, that would work. You just need to put the seal out farther than the original one is.

Leaky doors suck.

I think the mod would look way cleaner if the door was cut straight across front to back level with the window and reworked. I don't like the extra sticking up above that line....doesn't look clean to me.

Personally I would cut under the window for aesthetics. But if you don't understand how to do it from what has been said here, you might want to try it on something you don't care about first. And study the way a door works on a car with no exterior window frame.
