ya i think ill have my friend do it... its a long time family friend and it will be titled in both names.... not a problem.
well i still want to figure this problem out so i went back thru the whole process. and the only problem again ... while testing the erv, the first test is to put a tee in the vac line going to the erv and when cold, no vac when rev, after warm up and rev should have 5.9 on vac, well im only getting 3-4... i went thru the rest of the tests and all good... well i then checked the oil and it was very low, i must have under filled it, well i know i did, auto zone said 3.7 qt and it actually takes 5 according to haynes. why didnt i cautch it when i changed it a few weeks ago? in a hurry? dont know... wellwith the nox being this litle over .50..... will damage come to engine? and for the timing i have it right on, sounds good and has more power now.!

Shouldn't harm the engine, it's a gas that is resulting from engine condition. Haven't had a touch up on the 5 gases till now since 05 but I still remember most of it though. What is the engine vac at idle? Should be like 20~21.

where would i get the engine idle vac from? the vac i was taking was all egr related and was calling for 5.9 but was low, it is almost like i have lower engine idle... i can weld up a 4 link, body drop a truck.. but im not much on this diagnostics on engines thing.

Right out of the manifold under the carb, you should see a fitting with 2 or 3 vac lines out of it. Can pull one of the lines and hook it up there. Do you remember exactly the numbers on the 5 gases were? O2, CO, CO2, NOx, HC?

this truck has Fi, so where would i check the vac? 2.4 L. they only check 3 gases here.....HC i was at 0.06 allowed 1.60>>>>>>>>>CO i was at 0.00 allowed 40.0>>>>>>>>>>>>NOx i was at 3.51 allowed 3.00
im gonna go outside here in a while and check this vac thing out. I promised my wife ill buy the stuff for her to static it this week if we can get this plated mon or tues. She said RYAN4DC better stay his ass on line.lol

HC is a misfire indicator. Since it's low, nothing should me wrong. O2 is lean miss, CO is a rich miss, CO2 is engine condition, and NOx was was the dangerous one. NOx and CO makes smog. Since only get the 3, could be insufficiant egr, or exhaust pipe related. HC is too low for a miss. You can remove the egr from the manifold and clean it. Manifold vac can be read from using the brake booster line if you have an adapter. Or any vac line right off the manifold after the tb. Just pull the line and install the gauge. Egr vac line goes through the purge solenoid and a coolant thermo switch. Check for cracking on the vac lines. Egr related isn't too expensive.

ok i checked the vac. i took it right off the brake hose to the engine. at first start uo it was 20.5 vac, after it warmed up to temp it was 18-19. another thing was the cat that was on here was real bad broke up, would it be possible that it caused sgit to get in my muffler and mess things up?
once again ryan, thanks, if your ever at a show im at ill owe ya some beers!:)

Shouldn't be a problem for the muffler. 18 inhg is actually kinda low for idle. Check for vac leaks or breaks in the intake tube after the maf.
I'm in Hawaii so kind hard come up to a show though. Nevada, Washington state isthe usual states I visit for family. I don't think would pass fed ex, they going confiscate em.

tomorrow ill remove all tubes and replace .. it cant hurt. i was wanting to powdercoat the metal intake tube piece anyhow. so before i do it ill check all those areas... ok worst case on the lower vac? what would it be, also where else should i look?

You got an aftermarket intake system? Leaks can be real small. Some poeple use carb cleaner and spraw it all over the engine to find it. I use propane enricment methods. Propane torch unlit pritty much. Small doses and wait for the idle to change, safer on electrical wires. Since the CO is 0, can only be lean I think. Try to chenck the vac line to the purge solenoid.
