2.3L Engine Tune UP?

Hey I finally fixed my clutch and my engine seems like isn't running as good as it can, I think its a fuel or spark problem, any recommendations as to what to replace for a tune up? it has around 185,000 miles on the engine.

Just tuned up a buddies 2.3 last weekend...replaced spark plugs, wires, air filter, and cleaned the throttle body. If you haven't replaced your fuel filter recently (30,000 miles or so), wouldn't hurt to change that either.

what did you use to clean the throttle body? did it make a big difference

Just some TB spray we found at Auto Zone. His TB was really dark and dirty. He also has an oiled K&N, and some of the dirt might be from previous over-oilings...

buddy says truck runs a lot better now...since I don't drive it everyday, I'm not sure, so I'll have to take his word for it.

yea fuel filter, airfilter, plugs n wires and check the coils. it could onyl be runnin on 4 plugs...

well..my truck was running like shit at one point(2 cyls...yeah like i said like shit, lol.) but I took it in and got new plugs, wires, and had my head i guess cleaned out and man what a world of difference, I got alot more bottom end torque and it runs really smooth throughout the rpms. I would def say atleast get new plugs, wires, and filter.

i know i dont have the 2.3 but i did replace my fuel filter not to long ago ike 2 onths ago and i think it was the factory part and man what a difference it was just a little bit of a pain in the ass. just make sure to pull the power on the uhhh damn i forget the name but it disables the fuel pump in an accident. if you dont pull the power to that youll get doused with fuel like i did when we did my buddies ranger before mine. that sucked!

yea twanksta I noticed how much better yours ran then mine then i was like damn I need to make mine run like that.

So Twank, what exactly did they do? I know mine is running like shit. It takes me almost 20 seconds just to get from 0-60. I used some seafoam about 6 months ago and it made my truck misfire. I replaced the plugs and wires and that stopped that problem. But it still doesn't have shit for power. I don't think it's been 30K since I changed my fuel filter last. I might buy another thing of seafoam tomorrow and see if it clears anything else out. I might also have some TB cleaner sitting around somewhere.

And a warning for some of you. Be carefull cleaning the throttle body. I cleaned mine like 6 years ago and once I got it all cleaned I finally saw a sticker on it saying do not clean. I ended up having to replace all my air sensors. Now my whole intake assembly is from a rolled Escort. lol

HAHAHA! That sucks todd, but im not sure exactly what they did to clean it out, i got it done at a shop, all I know is that they cleaned out all the valves and everything, baha you could also switch it over to synthetic oil, I also did that when I got my tune-up.
