Sounds like some Joe electrical kept bypassing stuff to get other stuff to work. If your heater used to work with the ignition off, then that red wire was bypassing the ignition switch and keeping stuff on all the time. My best guess, is the truck was having the famous ignition switch failure, and someone was too cheap or could not figure it out, and thought they were smart by bypassing everything.

So guessing my ignition is bad? And when I moved some wires under the ignition cover it started beeping at me when I held the wires in the right position.

The electrical part of the ignition switch on these trucks goes bad often, after 15-20 years of usage.
