Okay, rounded up the numbers. On the bigger round boot it's Mazda P/N 64-315B on the oblong boot it is 64-331C and for the small dust boot over the shifter itself it's M513-17-480A. This last one is for almost all RWD Mazda trannys from 79-91. -Ed

Hey here's a question for ya, I'm going to replace my shifter boots pretty soon and would like to top up my transmission at the same time, because it's pretty fun (not) getting the oil into the hole on the side of the transmission can I remove the filling bolt and remove the shifter and tip the oil into the shifter hole untill it starts to come out of the filling hole?
Hopefully you know what I mean with all that gibberish.

Yep... that's the best way to do it.
Just make sure you're sitting level.

After an hour and a half of wasted time I realised that the boot that goes onto the top of the gearbox itself (the smallest one) just slips back up the shaft to be replaced.
I was trying furiously to get the gear stick to seperate from the selector itself, I saw the rubber inserted into the stem and thought it must be just screwed into there... nope it's pressed in there pretty good.
Just thought i'd point that out if anyone else was having the same problem as me.

The first thing I said to myself prior to the install "Doh.. stupid rubber, I would have never thought it would stretch that far"

back onto original topic:

the gentleman that i bought my truck from, (midnight mike) originally had a shifter from a uhaul truck in my truck i think he told me... so that might fix your desire for a longer shifter... although maybe tougher to find.
