On my buddys truck we ground down the knob so it was the right size to use one of the adapters and tightened it down with the set screws. Hope you have a better time keeping the handle on the adapter, we could never get them to stay on

well each ring is 2 parts. the bottom the speaker fits on. then there is a 1/4 inch ring that fits on the bottom ring and around the speaker so that the speaker is countersunk. the 2 pieces are glued together then i routered the upper edge.

the props are just cut up paint sticks from home depot. i glued the ring at the angle i wanted, then cut and glued the sticks in place. i used ca glue. its basically super glue with a spray activator that sets it as soon as you spray it. its friggin awsome. you can see it in this pic.

how many set allens are in the adapters? if theres atleast 2 id say drill them out to where they fit snug..... in plumbing 95% of faucets use allen set screws to hold the trim firmly and it does the trick quite well.....

each adapter has 4 set screws in each, and each handle has 2 set screws each. i think im gonna make the hole in the adapter larger like you said andrew. then later if i need to, the factory ones will still fit.
