wood will saok up the primer and give you a hazy final finish..most of the time
that is why i said primer filler todd lol, and sanding resin would work but its a bitch!! and i have that many lol because my dad and i used to make a lot of speaker boxes, and when we saw a good deal we got it lol, and i dont wanna ship lol those are heavy
you could always skim coat it with body filler
excellent idea, although body filler would crack especially since its going on wood which flexes...
What if I lay down a few coats of a heavy primer and block that, then add another coat?

lay down primer filler im telling you its what to use lol 2 layers sand it lightly 1 more layer and then paint
