ya, i just did one on mine. the kit from aim isnt all its cracked up to be. and their support is only around during the week. a buddy of mine that works at a body shop did mine for/with me. AIM concentrates more on the front side, more so than the back cab part. take your time, dont rush. measure, measure, measure! we took about 2 hrs measuring and taping lines before we finally got the nerve to make the cut. Using a body saw(small air saw) works well. using a cut off wheel, and sawzall is required. AIM doesnt supply any adhesive, but we used body panel adhesive to attach the ABS parts to the truck. there is a lot of tiny mods to do, alot of tiny things to figure out. like the latches. they dont give you any locations or stuff like that. you just have to figure it out. the only suggestion i would make, is the location of the front cut. i they say to use a 4" measurement from the front window trim. i would say got 3". it helps doing that by giving you a point inside the cab to put your front latches. i will go out later this morning, and take some pics to show you what it ends up looking like, and where and how i made my attachments. badhkn(rick) may have some help with this also, cuz he started his roadster this way. we tried very hard to make all cuts tight, but it will leak! the gasket they send for the front bow is too thick, and the top doesnt want to seal right. but check back later, ill have some pics up for ya!

I've had 8 friends do this to they're Mazdas, Yota's & Nissan/Ratsuns and ALL of them leaked. They tried everything they could but they always leaked (Port Orchard & Bremerton, WA area).

If you were in SoCal & had a garage for the 5 times a year it rains I'd say go for it, if not, carry a bucket, duct tape & lots of towels.

pretty sure i know one of the guys you're working with there. can't be too many people with 'bronco' tattooed on their arm.. haven't seen him since ralph's was still open. been a few years. I doubt he'd remember me, I don't even remember his damn name, just some of the story behind the tattoo.

your truck is looking pretty sick!

thanks guys.

ill be able to use your pics for refrence

heres what ive been wandering...why pay $400 for a kit thats just gonna leak anyways?

i could cut the top, make some seals/ latches myself

if i do it, its all gonna be from scratch=)

ive only seen 1 cabplus roadster, its almost a perfect refrence cause its primed black like mine

fi youre going to do that, youmight as well just finish it in steel. lose the plastic stuff. obviously, the next step for me would be to go to fulltime roadster. but im not ready for that. if ou do decide to go with aim, let me know, and i will try to help as much as i can.

Wow that aim kit sucks. I think you could build a better removalbe top by capping where you cut and using door seals or o-rings.
