The exact same thing happened with my truck. I had the U joints replaced, one was completely siezed up. The banging/knocking is still there, so I think I'll try the piece of rubber inbetween the leafs. I didn't think about trying that before, thanks Splinter.

Just look at the ends while a buddy hops up and down in bed. You'll see what mean. I put a piece of mudflap matarial between the leafs at the ends. I used a zip tie to hold rubber to bottom leaf
