Spindles needed?

Got a truck coming in tomorrow to get fixed. As of now hes on 17s and doesnt quite lay out. He took it to another shop and bought a set of spindles with the huge balljoints. The shop owner hacked up the lowers to put the balljoints in, hacked all the mounts and by the end the truck couldnt lift high enough to clear the tires. Everything is getting cut off and redone, but will we need the spindles to lay an 18?

assuming the truck coming in tomorrow is a mazda, and ... wait what kind of spindles? a mazda can lay an 18 with almost stock running gear(little modification), as long as the tire is under, roughly 25" tall.
