Thanks for the info Seth, i still plan on putting a slip yoke on it along with a new carrier bearing. I have a friend in town that owns a bag shop and he gave me an offer i cant refuse on rebagging the rear of my truck. So my truck goes to the shop this weekend and i should hopefully have it back by next weekend completely redone in the rear. Half wishbone with a lever setup in the rear like yours Seth. Heres his shops myspace page if you guys wanna check out his work.

^ Yeah I talked to him at6 Danger Zone.

And I was saying that I would install a slip yoke anyways. These trucks need them.

Yea Will is a cool dude and hes gonna take care of my truck big time!

I know what you were sayin Seth, i just typed it out wrong lol.

Im gonna take my driveline in once the truck is at the shop gettin rebagged. Gonna put a new carrier bearing with a slip yoke, hopefully the one i have from a toyota will work. Seth, should i just have them make it stock length with the slip yoke in it? Shorten it at all??

When I had the Nissan one done I told them it needs to be X length, and I wanted the slip yoke to be at about 1/3 of its travel at that length. This way theres no chance of it ever pulling out. And it traveled about 8 inches total.

Yeah, and it isn't too bad to get a slip yoke driveshaft made. I had a local shop quote me a whole rear shaft with a slip yoke in it for 250 bux brand new.

I found out something interesting. My 88 has a carrier bearing and my 87 has a one piece driveshaft. I am going to see if it will fit the 88. Anyone else have this situation?

AND your point is? Even if i build a frame with 5 lug suspension i can still use the drive shaft that i going to have made i will just have to change the end out that bolts to the pinion.

The rear is gettin rebagged as we speak. I got a good friend that has a reputable shop and hes givin me the deal of the century on rebaggin it. Im still gonna make a shaft with a slip yoke on it so i know i wont have any problems.

its just that easy huh? just whip out the wrench and change 'er up huh?
no
you'll still need to take it back to the driveline shop and have them put your new end on and rebalance it, plus its likely your length will change when going to another type of 3rd member. yeah yeah yeah you've got a slip yolk now... but will it still be at the same point of travel? say 1/3 as twistedminis suggested?
so to me thats the same as having one made in the first place.
that's my point. dick.
