hi everyone, I had a question bout early Mazda's I was offered a trade for a 81 Mazda b2000 and thinking about doin it. I had a few questions about them.

Are the front end torsion bar style or coil spring??

Are motor parts interchangable it is a 2 litre correct?

Is there any really aftermarket backing with the early models?

Thanks guys really appreciate and am looking forward to throwing a few pics of wats going on down in Sacramento.

hell yes. do it man. i would have to look at my parts truck but i believe they are coil springs. yes, it is a 2.0 and is not interchangable with the 86-93 models. but in my opinion the pre86 engines are much more durable. i have had better luck with my 83s 2.0 than i have with my 89s 2.2. there is not a lot of aftermarket parts for them. grantkustoms makes a full skin combo for the rear but i think that is about it. i personally love the stock front ends. post some pics up when you get a chance.

Kewl thanks for the quick reply. So that brings up another question. I would drop it by cutting coils correct? Can I do a ball joint flip?

you would drop it by installing air bags and removing the coils!

It is a coil spring setup on thre pre 84 mazdas and maztang is correct you can straight hammer down on these trucks motors there tough as hell. But the trannys on the other part thats definatly a weak point.

You can use the torsion kit to bag the front though

The one I am looking at the 1 gear syncro is toasted along with the 5th one he said. I am still waiting on pics of, I will probably post them here to show you guys.

As far as the bags go, I got to do it the slow way, so Im going to static drop it first, then in a few months be able to get it to lay out.

I work at a car lot out here in sacramento and I have got crazy amounts of chevy take offs so for now thats what I am going to run. I was curious wat a early b would look on some pathfinder wheels, might be another choice of mine

if you cut the coils it is going to ride like garbage. i would just save money for the bags man. every vehicle i have ever ridden in that had the coils cut was very rough. i have a spare set of coils if you would like to give it a shot though. i am getting reay to pull the whole front suspension off my parts truck.
