I'VE BEEN CHECKING OUT ALOT OF BAGGED CARS AND TRUCKS, ALL ARE PRETTY MUCH THE BASIC SET UP. IM WANTING TO DO SOMETHING THAT YOU DON'T AND PROBABLY WONT (UNTIL I DO IT) EVER SEE. IM THINKING OF DOING A CUSTOM AIR TANK. (BLOCK LETTERS IS ALL IM GOING TO SAY FOR NOW UNTIL ITS DONE) BUT THE THING IS I DON'T KNOW HOW TO WELD, NOR DO I KNOW MUCH ABOUT INSTALLING AN AIR RIDE MYSELF OR THE SPECS OR WHATEVER IS REQUIRED. SO BASICALLY WHAT IM WANTING TO KNOW IS WHAT GAUGE STEEL SHOULD I USE TO HAVE MY LETTERS CUT (TO HOLD 5-10 GALS OF AIR AT 150 - 200 PSI). ALSO WHAT GAUGE STEEL SHOULD I USE FOR THE CUSTOM (LETTER SHAPED) FRAME NOTCH (I WANT TO LAY FRAME ON 22"RIMS) WHICH IS GOING TO HAVE TO BE A MONSTER TO LAY 22"s (IM THINKING LIKE A 10"-12" NOTCH). IM GOING TO HAVE A METAL FAB. SHOP NEAR ME CUT THESE PIECES AS SOON AS I GET ALL THE SPECS AND WHAT NOTS FIGURED OUT. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
if you have no knowledge in welding nor air ride setups im pretty sure whatyour thinking about has been done or atleast thought about. i think i know what you are thinking by the description.
ever notice that an air tank is round. check out the minitruckweb.com. they built a back-half of a frame and the hollow metal acted as an air tank. same principle i think
Yeh check out that article. It was a wicked right up, it tells you what size wall you need. I believe its 1/8" at the very least, otherwise it will balloon out.
You would need to weld in some bungs and leak test it, but I think you would be okay otherwise?

I THINKING MORE ALONG THE LINES OF A TANK THAT SPELLS OUT MAZDA B2200 IN 4" BLOCK LETTERS. THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS :d
i think that would be too much work for a leaking ass block of mess.
yea better make sure u no what ur getting yourself into with fab work first man!
im not going to actually weld this up myself im just going to do the design work of the tank. i have a local metal shop that is going to cut the pieces for me fairly cheap. also have a local welding shop that is going to weld for a decent price. im just wanting to know what gauge steel and what suggestions people have on the idea of the tanks that i plan on designing. i do appreciate the concern of me actually doing to welding and what nots on my own. trust me i don't want to spend anymore time and money then i have to.
I could dar them up in cad and give you a cut list in cad if you want...let me know. As for metal thickness I say at least 3/16 thick, and I would do stainless if it were me...that way it will never rust out.
damn bro, this sounds badass! i def. want to see it when you get it done. i would do just like gravity5 said, 3/16 stainless and you should never have a problem out of it.
